5 Of The Best Things We've Eaten At Burger King In 2026

This has been a good year for Burger King. In March, the brand rolled out a commercial that was less of a sales pitch and more of a mission statement. The 90-second advert started with an admission that the fast food chain had lost its way, and ended with a promise that it would win back customers by listening to them and acting on their feedback. "There's a new king. And it's you," CEO Tom Curtis stated earnestly.

This wasn't just lip-service either. The brand unveiled a series of upgrades, including a revamped Whopper. We loved it enough to ask if it was one of the best burgers of 2026, and when we got around to making this list, the new Whopper made the cut. Clearly customers are lapping up the upgrades as well, and Burger King recently overtook Wendy's to become the second-largest burger chain in America.

The new Whopper was one of many delicious things we've eaten at Burger King this year. For example, we even tried all of the chicken items on the menu, and especially loved the amount of flavor packed into the Bacon and Swiss Royal Crispy Chicken. The fact that this sandwich didn't make the cut shows just how high the bar has been set. Here are the five items that did make it to our list of best things we've eaten at Burger King in 2026.

The Whopper

Burger King's Whopper was introduced in 1957, four years after the chain had started selling flame-grilled burgers and fries. In the seven decades since, the Whopper has become synonymous with the brand. Things steeped in history are often considered untouchable, but we have no doubt that revamping the Whopper is one of the best things Burger King did in 2026.

The refreshed Whopper has gained a new bun, premium mayo, and freshly cut vegetables, all served in a box so nothing gets squished. "I think the larger burger size makes a big difference. It's considerably more filling, and you get a beefier bite that seems better suited to the bun's thickness. Everything seems slightly more balanced, and I like the bit of freshness and crispness the produce brings," we wrote, when we ate and ranked 10 BK's burgers, worst to best.

Customers are impressed too. "I got the most photogenic Whopper of my life today. It was actually really, really good," one wrote on Reddit. Just one tip from our expert — always order this with a slice of American cheese, which isn't standard on the popular burger.

Mozzarella Fries

A burger by itself is lovely, but having something on the side completes the experience. We tried and ranked eight sides from Burger King, and while the french fries and onion rings were both in the top five, the Mozzarella Fries that stole the show. The best Mozzarella Fries must check three boxes: the outside should be perfectly crunchy, the breading should be evenly coated, and the cheese inside should be soft and gooey. Burger King's version, which also features parmesan and Romano cheeses, delivered on all three fronts. "When you pair it with marinara sauce, it offers a complex, tasty side I'd never expected from Burger King," our expert wrote.

One customer on Reddit agreed. "I don't eat much BK, but when I do, I always get an order of Mozz Fries," they posted, adding, "You almost always get a decent cheese pull and the amount of cheese doesn't overwhelm the breading." Just make sure you get them hot though, another customer on the thread warned. "It's so rare to get these actually hot and fresh though. Majority of the time they're cold and the cheese isn't melted. At my BK anyway."

Peppercorn BLT Whopper

This burger is a great example of good things coming from just listening to customers. While Burger King has always pitched the Whopper as a customizable burger (and there are a staggering number of ways in which you can customize it — over 200,000!), the Whopper By You campaign launched in 2025 allowed customers to directly influence its menus. And one great burger to come out of this initiative was the Peppercorn BLT Whopper, which was on the menu as a limited-time release earlier this year.

The sandwich featured a ¼-pound flame-grilled beef patty with Swiss cheese, peppercorn aioli, crispy bacon, lettuce, and tomato. Our expert was thankful BK lets customers have it their way, particularly enjoying the balance between the Swiss cheese and peppercorn aioli. "The Swiss cheese was nutty and stretchy, and I was thankful there were two slices on the burger," we wrote. "The thick bacon strips were perfectly chewy-crisp and delightfully smoky. [...] The peppercorn aioli added a creamy, slightly fiery kick that partnered especially well with the salty bacon and savory Swiss cheese." Unfortunately, the Peppercorn BLT Whopper isn't on Burger King's menu anymore, but there is plenty more to dig into.

Bacon King

As Burger King's answer to Wendy's Baconator, the Bacon King has been around for a decade, but it continues to stand the test of time (without needing any significant upgrades like The Whopper). In fact, instead of feeling outdated, the Bacon King stands out in a world where a lot of our food, from restaurant portion sizes to everyday groceries, keeps getting smaller.

The Bacon King features two quarter-pound, flame-grilled patties, smoky bacon, two slices of American cheese, ketchup, and mayo. "It's hefty; I could feel the weightiness in its packaging. There's no denying that it contains the most meat out of anything I tried so far. If you want something salty, smoky, creamy, and heavy, this is the way to go," our expert wrote about a burger they ranked higher than the popular double cheeseburger and the upgraded Whopper.

There are fans online who are similarly stuffed. "Bacon King is one of those rare fast food burgers that will actually fill you up and keep you full for a while. That thing is a delicious beast," one of them wrote on Reddit. In fact, the burger was so big our expert had enough left over to test how it tasted the next day. And the good news is that it reheats really well, as long as you reheat the patty and the bun separately and reassemble it.

Texas Double Whopper

There have been some pretty wild takes on the Whopper over the decades (Chocolate Whopper, anyone?). This is one of the underrated hits, and was one of our favorite BK burgers of the year. The Texas Double Whopper features two grilled beef patties served in its signature bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, smoky bacon, two slices of American cheese, mustard, and mayonnaise. In case you're wondering what's Texan about it, it's the jalapeños, yellow mustard, and size which give the burger its moniker.

While the long list of ingredients sounds like it could be too much, our expert found this burger to be well balanced. "This is a very dynamic and flavorful burger. It's hearty, and there's so much going on with all the add-ins and meats, cheeses, condiments, and produce — but not in a mishmash way," we wrote. "Every bite was enticing, from the creamy cheese to the grilled burger, spicy jalapeños, acidic mustard, and more."

There's a lot of love for this burger online, with one Redditor saying it was their go-to order at BK. "It's the only one I ever get because it's the easiest to order off the standard menu," they posted on a thread started by another happy customer who also said that the burger didn't need any tweaks or upgrades. "Got everything on it as is. Was freakin delicious," they wrote.
