8 Fast Food Menu Items We've Lost In 2026 So Far

Switching up fast food menus can help regular customers stay intrigued, but when favorites are removed, the absence of an item doesn't go unnoticed. Unfortunately for lovers of a specific order, removals aren't always advertised or announced, particularly in the case of limited-time items or when older recipes are replaced with newer versions. 

2026 has seen its share of noteworthy disappearances, like McDonald's erasure of its Pumpkin Spice Latte. Even with foods and drinks with anticipated expiration dates, like a specific burger from Burger King or a limited-time drink from Dunkin', some customers missed the window of opportunity and wished they had sampled the item before it was discontinued. 

To help compile this list of lost food items, we ran through company statements and looked for evidence that the item was no longer served in American locations. From drinks to tacos to burgers, the disappearance of some of these dishes may have you longing for a forgotten snack or inspire you to make your own own culinary creations at home.

When Taco Bell removed its Double Stacked Taco from its menu, displeased fans called it "legitimately one of the worst decisions a company has ever made" on Reddit. "Literally threw my entire day off when I went in to my local TB and had no idea they were removing some of the greatest items there," bemoaned a fan. First released in 2016, the Double Stacked Taco was made up of a crunchy taco held inside a soft flour tortilla by nacho cheese sauce. 

Wendy's revamped its well-known Spicy Chicken Sandwich in 2026, and judging from customers' reviews, the original recipe is missed. "Used to be one of the best, now the worst!" complained a fan on Reddit. In addition to breading the chicken patty with spicy panko, the homestyle mayo, pickles, and sweet potato bread have changed the look and taste of the build. Wendy's customers have described the newer version as smaller and drier, even labeling it as a "travesty" on Reddit threads. 

Dunkin' embraced the allure of dirty sodas with its own mix of Pepsi, coffee milk, and sweet cold foam. Though the recipe was promoted as a limited-time item and didn't seem to find a sizable fan base, not every customer was pleased when the drink disappeared. "I really am tired of Dunkin' discontinuing my favorites," wrote a customer on Facebook. While some fans have suggested a workaround by asking for Pepsi and coffee milk, others have noted that not every store will accommodate these special requests. 

When McDonald's Big Arch launched in America, it wasn't intended to become a permanent menu item. Still, customers noticed when the burger went missing. The double-quarter pounder topped with white cheese, crispy and slivered onions, pickles, and Arch Sauce, a mixture of ketchup, mustard, pickles, and onions, met a mixed reception. Before it vanished, customers noted that the burger was costly, and not every sampler was sold on the sauce. Americans yearning for a taste now have to make their way to the United Kingdom, where it is still listed on menus.

Wendy's has offered a variety of Frosty Cream Cold Brews, including vanilla, chocolate, and caramel. Made with Frosty creamer, syrup, and cold foam, these drinks were noted to be sweet but grew on samplers. "The cold foam is disgusting. I will miss it," quipped a customer on Reddit. While the item has been spotted in Canada, Frosty Cream Cold Brew is a discontinued item we'll probably never see again. Customers have come up with substitutes, including ordering cold brew with cream, and Wendy's has placated some with its Brown Sugar Frosty Cream Cold Brew. 

Burger King's Ultimate Steakhouse Whopper was a behemoth, stacking onion rings, bacon, mushrooms, Swiss cheese, and peppercorn aioli into a toasted sesame bun. The limited-time item has since faded from menus, replaced by newer creations that keep Burger King customers fed. Not everyone is glad that the burger is nixed, writing, "I'm just mad that it was so good and gone now," on Reddit. The build wasn't appealing to all, however, and ended up on our list of some of the brand's worst fast food burgers of 2026.

With an epic 13-year run, the McDonald's Pumpkin Spice Latte was discontinued in 2026, replaced instead by a completely different drink that leans into the flavors of caramel apple pie. The shocker of a swap placed a Caramel Apple Pie Latte onto menus, leaving lovers of all things PSL in the lurch. 

Though Arby's Smokehouse Brisket Sandwich found some fans, the brand pulled the sandwich to unveil the Quarter Pound Chopped Brisket Sandwich. Devastated customers have since written on Reddit, "One of my top favorite items to get and was shocked when the guy told me they no longer serve it." The exchange hasn't gone over well among customers, and some have noted that the newer version is "dry and mostly tasteless" without the addition of sauce.
