10 Best Bakeries Guy Fieri Visited On Diners, Drive-Ins And Dives

While there's no denying that we can all learn some invaluable lessons from watching the shout-fest that is Gordon Ramsay's "Kitchen Nightmares," there's something undeniably magical about the chill, laid-back, occasionally wide-eyed wonder Guy Fieri brings to the screen instead. Infinitely relatable while living the dream, Fieri has toured the country visiting all kinds of restaurants to spotlight on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." However, even he's admitted bakeries are few and far between. That may have something to do with the fact he's not the biggest dessert person around. However, some that he has featured are downright phenomenal.
We took a look at the best of the best, and true to form, Triple D does not disappoint. Fieri managed to find places serving up everything from sticky buns to pastries you're unlikely to find anywhere else, earning high praise from the celebrity chef, despite the fact that sweets are never high on his list.
How did we choose the best? We looked for the bakeries that not only got incredibly high praise from Fieri but thrived in the wake of his show, earned rave reviews, and got buzzy press. These are the bakeries that expanded, earned major media attention, and even caught the eye of organizations like the James Beard Foundation. Baking exists somewhere in that shadowy area between science and magic, and these places have both.
Nichole's Fine Pastry & Cafe (Fargo, North Dakota)
When we here at Tasting Table assembled a list of the best bakeries in every state, we gave Nichole's Fine Pastry & Cafe the nod for North Dakota. Itt's also gotten some attention from the James Beard Foundation and earned a 2024 semifinalist spot in the running for Outstanding Bakery. When Guy Fieri stopped by for a 2021 episode of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," he was stunned by the work that went into each and every tray of pecan sticky buns — and of course the final product.
Sauces are, of course, scratch-made, but Fieri was stunned by the reveal that one of the main ingredients for the dough was none other than mashed potato. It created the perfect texture, and the results spoke for themselves. Everything — from the sweet tartness of the caramel to that delicious dough — came together to create something greater than the sum of its parts, and Fieri had nothing but praise.
It's a dedication that carries over to other pastries, cookies, and buns as well, with customers giving rave reviews for a wide variety of desserts like the chocolate feuilletine cake, bread pudding, key lime pie, and chocolate croissants. A great bakery has to have great coffee, and the drinks here don't disappoint, either.

Art-Is-In Bakery (Ottawa, Canada)
Creativity is the name of the game up at Art-Is-In Bakery, an Ottawa hotspot that Guy Fieri visited in 2019. It's often said that the first bite is with the eye, and this episode of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" saw customers lauding gorgeous, the bakery's super unique creations. That included the O-Towner, a sky-high pastry with croissant-like layers upon layers — somewhere around 100 — and all the deep-fried goodness of a donut.
Equal parts delicious and unique, it's no wonder that Fieri called it an absolutely beautiful pastry. Add in a custard filling and more delights piped and sprinkled on the top, and Fieri had to admit that figuring out how to eat the towering pastry was a bit of a challenge — one that ended with him wearing some of it. In addition to being eye-catching, Fieri was impressed that it wasn't nearly as sweet as he'd expected, and instead, he found something richly balanced.
He went as far as to call it one of the best donuts he'd ever tried. Customers agree, with other pastries — including almond croissants — described as next-level, and breads also getting high praise. Sourdough is just as flavorful and balanced, while the restaurant's breakfast dishes are just as celebrated.

The Pie Hole (Langley, Canada)
A delicious pie can be a work of art, and there are all kinds of tricks that go into getting perfection on a plate — right down to making sure that slice is cut and served just right. It's safe to say those in the kitchen at The Pie Hole know all those hacks, as this is the place serving pies that Guy Fieri declared were above and beyond what you might expect a pie to be. He went to this Canadian bakery for Season 29 of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" and sampled a raspberry and custard pie piled so high with fresh fruit that he was astounded by how the crumble-top pie changed the dessert game for its sheer fruity, sweet, deliciousness.
The Pie Hole is what Fieri's show is all about. Owner Jenell Parsons is a self-taught chef who serves up such stellar pies that one location has turned into three, and she's also released a cookbook. "You Wanna Piece of Me?" includes more than a hundred pie recipes, including the one that Fieri was so impressed with.
Savory pies are a total win, with a Buffalo chicken pie that's essential. The raspberry crumble remains a top tier slice, while customers also love the fact that there's take-and-bake options, too. Love the smell of baking pies but don't want the hassle of making it yourself? This place has you covered.

Hruska's Kolache/The Kolache Place (Salt Lake City, Utah)
Things are looking a little different at the Hruska family's bakery these days, but that's for a very good reason. When Guy Fieri visited the Salt Lake City spot for a 2019 episode of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," it was called Hruska's Kolaches. Fast forward to 2026, and it's seen a rebrand into The Kolache Place, as they're looking toward expansions past the five locations the business has.
Kolaches have grown from a Czech secret to a Texas staple, and the Hruska family is known around Utah for its sweet and savory pastries that still use a family recipe passed down through generations. Fieri got a look at all that goes into the sausage and gravy pastry pockets, and it's all scratch-made from the dough to the hand-mixed sausage. Fieri was impressed by the pocket that managed to be filling and flavorful at the same time they were light and airy, and seriously tasty.
He also tried one of the popular sweet kolaches, and it's hard to tell what was more impressive. Was it the shaping and filling of 24 kolaches — with both raspberry and cream cheese — in about 30 seconds? Or was it the creative fillings, the commitment to hand-made freshness, and the taste? All of the above! And seriously, fans say you also shouldn't sleep on the sausage, egg, cheese, and jalapeño either.

Dulce Dough (St. Simons Island, Georgia)
It's pretty incredible when you consider how long Guy Fieri has been doing "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." When he wnet to St. Simons Island and Dulce Dough in 2024, it was for Season 39 of the show. He was quick to mention it was far from his first trip to the area. But it was the pineapple jam-filled, rum-slathered donut here that had him backtracking on his insistence that he wasn't into sweets all that much.
After raving about the mix of pineapple and creamy, not-too-sweet fillings, the spotlight shifted to pecan sticky buns. The amount of work and time that went into both shows that everything happening here is a true labor of love, and the end result is a massive sticky bun that gets served with a slice of butter that wow'd the pros as much as the customers.
Fieri was in awe of the mix of down-home comfort and pure culinary skill, and it's easy to see why people wait in line for nearly an hour just to pick up some donuts. Get there late and you might find things sold out, but whether your get savory breakfast biscuits or those famous donuts, you're sure to walk away as pleased as Fieri was.

Frost Me Sweet Bakery & Bistro (Richland, Washington)
This one's a little different. Even though elaborately decorated cakes and cupcakes are at the forefront of what's going on at Frost Me Sweet Bakery & Bistro, Guy Fieri opted to take an in-depth look at something else on the menu when the Washington spot was featured on Season 29 of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." He tried a rave-worthy sweet potato lasagna, with scratch-made sauces and cheese served between thinly sliced slabs of sweet potato that replaced the more traditional pasta.
Fieri was impressed with the ultra-flavorful dish: hearty and filling in exactly the right way. But, you might be saying, that isn't what you'd expect of a bakery, is it? The sweet potato lasagna is a favorite, particularly because you can wrap things up with one of the simply stellar cupcakes.
Not only do the cupcakes impress, but the gluten-free offerings get some serious love, too — impressive, considering there are a number of mistakes that a gluten-free baker can make. Others say that they're perfectly pleased with the bahn mi — which they decided to order on Fieri's recommendation — while some note that it's the vegan cupcakes that steal the show. We're all about the places that go out of the way to ensure there's something for everyone on the menu, and when that includes over-the-top, super-chocolatey cupcakes, you know you can't go wrong.

Nutmeg Bakery & Cafe (San Diego, California)
Nutmeg Bakery & Cafe opened in 2012, and it took Guy Fieri a while to get there. It wasn't featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" until 2023, and by that time, the family-owned spot had been through a lot that included expansion to a second location and scrambling to survive through the pandemic.
Lured in by a dedication to making everything in-house and from scratch, Fieri found a seriously outstanding take on what's usually a perfectly ordinary breakfast dish. There's no typical French toast here, but a bananas foster version that only starts with specially mixed, baked, and crumbled streusel topping. There's also spiced ricotta filling for the thick brioche bread, scratch-made custard, and bananas foster sauce. Fieri was taken aback by the elevation of French toast into the complicated, thoughtful version being served here, and you'll hear loyal fans echoing the sentiment that even something as normally simple as a ham and cheese croissant is simply stellar here.
Sure, you'll also hear that it's on the expensive side of things, but based on the lines, it's an experience that plenty are willing to pay for. Paninis are a must and have been for years — along with the cinnamon rolls. Recent expansions and changes to the menu and space are lauded for making this an even more wonderful, welcoming place.
Multiple locations
Uppercrust (Gainesville, Florida)
Guy Fieri has visited a number of restaurants in Gainesville, Florida — including Uppercrust. He filmed there for an episode of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" in 2025, and noted that it made him realize that bakeries were something of a rarity on the show. The story and the plethora of products made this one a must-visit for him, though, and it's safe to say that he was not disappointed.
Now under the watchful guidance of a longtime employee of the original owner, Uppercrust prides itself on a marriage between fine dining skill and down home comfort. Fieri was treated to an artichoke barigoule rose: braised artichoke, carrots, onion, fennel, tomatoes, and bechamel sauce over scratch-made pastry roses made from croissant dough. The combination of salty and sweet served alongside that perfectly layered croissant clearly had Fieri rethinking his longtime decision to skip over bakeries. He called it one of the best bakery items he'd ever had — full stop.
The problem that some customers have is that this place makes all other bakeries feel as though they fall short, unable to match the flaky and flavorful croissants, scratch-made jams, delightful coffees, wedding-worthy cakes and cupcakes, and the wine selection. If you're wondering whether or not it can get any better, some say you'll need to try the cinnamon rolls to find out.

Sherman's Deli & Bakery (Palm Desert, California)
The roots of Sherman's Deli & Bakery go back to just after World War II, when returning vet Sherman Harris decided to get into the restaurant business. Additional locations opened in the following decades, and by the time Guy Fieri filmed an episode of "Diners, Drive-In and Dives" there in 2017, that particular location had been a favorite of ordinary locals and celebrities for since opening in Palm Desert in the 1960s. (It's famously one of Elvis Presley's favorite restaurants.)
Fieri returned to the spot for "Triple D Nation" as well, and it's easy to see why. Not only is the deli serving up all the best New York-style classics, but meats are brined and smoked in-house, and all the rye bread is made in-house, too. It's no small operation, with an estimated 100 loaves going in and out of the oven every day.
Those are a lot of steps for a single sandwich, but one whiff was enough to tell Fieri all he needed to know: that it was absolutely worth it. Dishes like the stuffed cabbage impressed just as much, and as far as customer opinion goes, there's no way to go wrong. Opt for pastrami or corned beef piled high on that fresh rye and you'll walk away happy. It's very clear that the ultra-fresh rye makes all the difference in the world.

Se7en Bites (Orlando, Florida)
You can tell when Guy Fieri really likes a particular spot, and in the case of Orlando's Se7en Bites, he went there for "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" Season 26, returned in Season 32, and visited again for "Triple D Nation." It's also crossed over into "Guy's Grocery Games," and it's easily one of the best restaurants "DDD" has spotlighted in the entire state. If that doesn't say enough about this place, it's also gotten a shout-out in the Michelin Guide for years. We're here to talk about Fieri's thoughts, though, and he had nothing but good things to say about the chicken pot pie.
Hop over to the sweet side of the bakery and you'll find Fieri shining the spotlight on a vanilla bean bourbon bacon pie — a bacon and graham cracker take on a filled cookie — and the Don't Fudge With Me. That sandwiched together chocolate chip cookies, brownies, peanut butter cream, fudge, and cookie dough to create something downright delectable.
It's no wonder that customers say there's probably going to be a line, but no matter what you get, it's going to be delicious and the chocolate chip cookies are the perfect treat to wrap things up. Add in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and you'll see why people are willing to wait. Did anyone mention the mimosas? Those are stellar, too.

Methodology
Guy Fieri has tried a lot of outstanding cheeseburgers on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," but bakeries rarely make an appearance on the show. We still needed to narrow things down to the best, though. In making this list, we looked for those that have had continued success since being featured, and ones that included finding the places that had expanded or upgraded. We took into consideration awards and media coverage, continued outstanding reviews from customers, and — of course — Fieri's reaction to the dishes featured on the show.
