9 Best Greek Restaurants Guy Fieri Visited On Diners, Drive-Ins And Dives
We'd like to take a second to say food history is fascinating. Take, for example, Greek cuisine. It's a 4,000-year-old Greek food that's credited with changing the way people ate and ushering in ideas like grilling meat and selling via market carts. There's something kind of comforting about the idea that people were keeping tabs on their favorite B.C.-era "food trucks" parked around the Parthenon in its heyday, and if there's any modern-day restaurateur we can picture mingling with these ancient cooks, it's Guy Fieri. (That image will now live rent-free in your head, and we are not sorry.) In the course of filming "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," Fieri has visited outstanding Greek restaurants, and we wanted to spotlight some of the best.
There are a lot of Greek dishes that you need to try at least once, from the aforementioned, history-making souvlaki to the pastry-layered spinach-and-feta spanakopita. Fortunately, there's no need to go to Greece: There are great Greek restaurants and diners in the U.S., and you know that if anyone has a finger on the pulse of those out-of-the-way spots locals know best, it's Fieri. And his long-running show certainly doesn't disappoint.
So, let's talk about the restaurants that impressed Fieri and have remained an integral part of the area's foodie landscape. These are the spots still collecting awards, earning buzzy press and high recommendations from a loyal fan base, all while putting out the kind of ultra-fresh, deliciously flavorful food that got them on the show in the first place.
Greek Corner (Cambridge, Massachusetts)
The Greek Corner is one of those spots that you'll hear called a hidden gem, one of those places that's easy to walk past but hard to overlook once you know about the quality of the food that's coming out of the kitchen. "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" featured this Cambridge favorite way back in 2010, and years later, it's still earning accolades for being an invaluable part of the community.
When Guy Fieri walked through the doors of the cheerful, blue-and-white-fronted building, he met the chefs who were making gyros the stuff of dreams. Thinly sliced beef and lamb were marinated for an entire day, allowed to sit in a garlic-forward mixture before being transferred to a skewer. Slices were carefully arranged to ensure that when they were cooked and sliced, each gyro would get just the right amount of fat, both types of meats, and a texture that was tender rather than chewy. The whole thing got topped with an onion, then placed in front of a carefully tended heat.
Extra-crisp veggies finished things off, and the resulting gyro left no doubt as to why customers have been lauding this place for food that's always delicious, filling yet light, and hearty yet fresh. It's been that way for years, and when you add in the super-friendly, welcoming vibes, it's clear this is the real deal.

King Gyros Greek Restaurant (Whitehall, Ohio)
King Gyros Greek Restaurant takes pride in the fact everything is scratch-made, and it's made this place a Columbus-area favorite. It got the "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" treatment in 2024, and the dedication owner Yianni Chalkias has is clear. In an interview with Columbus Monthly, he said that when he learned being on the show would require him to close for a few days, it was an unprecedented ask: King Gyros has been open every day — save holidays and Sundays — for more than three decades.
It's perhaps not surprising that Guy Fieri and his crew have things down to a science. Chalkias revealed the whole thing was shot on a Friday afternoon and a Sunday, and yes, he opened for hungry customers on that Friday evening. Dishes selected to be featured included two named for Chalkias' grandparents: Yiayia's dolmades — stuffed grape leaves — and Pappous' lamb chops.
Fieri may have been impressed with the food, but during the watch party, the fans who gathered were just as tickled by the thanks Chalkias gave to all those who had come through the doors in his years in the kitchen. And that's a lot of people to thank. It's the kind of place people miss when they move away, and fans insist it's still serving those tender, oh-so-tasty lamb chops. Attention to the details extends to refreshing tzatziki, and all in all, it's a meal worth making a trip for.

Sophia's Restaurant (Buffalo, New York)
Family restaurants are, of course, a big deal on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." Guy Fieri found an absolutely wonderful one when he headed to Buffalo in 2018 and stopped by Sophia's Restaurant (in its original location at 749 Military Road; it's since moved to a bigger spot down just the street). Sophia Ananiadis was no longer in charge, but her son, Sam Doherty, had taken the reins and made it clear that he was all about honoring the legacy she'd built.
A massive flattop was churning out all kinds of diner favorites, even scratch-baking bread. White bread might not seem like a big deal, but Fieri was shocked to learn the method here of making it: eyeball everything and be confident that love and care would make it turn out to be exceptional. To say he was impressed when it worked is an understatement, resulting in some of the best bread around. That was then used for things like open-faced steak sandwiches and a classic fried bologna, but when it came time to talk favorites, customers were quick to name-drop the souvlaki.
Chicken souvlaki piled high on a salad was, Fieri admitted, a bit of an abnormality for the show — but a total win, nonetheless. The result is a place where there might be a wait, but it's worth every minute. Those in the kitchen go out of their way to ensure everyone's getting a heaping helping of deliciousness. And the gyros? They're to die for.

Marietta Diner (Marietta, Georgia)
There's a little bit of everything on the menu at Marietta Diner, and honestly, that's the way it should be. There's no way to go wrong anywhere, though, and if you're worried about a huge menu, don't be concerned. This isn't just the best diner in all of Georgia, it's also one of the best diners in the entire U.S. — which Guy Fieri and "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" experienced firsthand back in 2008.
It's so popular that each day sees an average of between 30 and 40 trays of spanakopita going out to hungry customers, and it's a layered spinach pie that Fieri loved. There were no shortcuts taken here, with a labor-intensive layering process that ensured the spinach-and-egg mix was nestled between perfectly flaky pastry. It's that kind of care that speaks volumes about a restaurant's commitment to only the best, and the sheer number of dishes that are also recommended by loyal fans is only further proof.
That spanakopita is a major favorite, alongside options like the Greek salad, beef souvlaki, and diner classics like matzo ball soup. Variety is the name of the game here, and whatever you're in the mood for, it's bound to be delish. (Pro tip: Go with a group so you can sample everyone else's order, because you're going to want to!)

Tommy's Diner (Columbus, Ohio)
There's no doubt that Tommy's Diner is a beloved Columbus-area staple, and it's been that way for decades. It first opened back in 1989, and it's surprising that it took "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" until 2024 to get there. (It's even more surprising considering Columbus is famously Guy Fieri's hometown.) What was on the menu was nothing short of extraordinary: While all pasta lovers might have those lasagna recipes that they keep coming back to, this diner decided to showcase a Greek twist on that Italian classic.
That's pastitsio, a lasagna-adjacent dish that gets a makeover with the addition of white wine, cloves, garlic, and cinnamon alongside the standard tomato sauce and ground beef. There's a bechamel sauce there, too, which comes seasoned with nutmeg, white pepper, and — of course — plenty of cheese. When it came time for Fieri to dig in, the final verdict was that it came out perfectly balanced with just the right amount of everything.
Things were rounded out with a baklava cheesecake, scratch-made from the honey syrup to the cheesecake filling. It looked incredible, and Fieri confirmed that it tasted even better — and was worth a road trip from anywhere in the state. Fans say you'll be just as blown away as Fieri. Chicken and waffles, country fried steak, pancakes, and meatloaf are favorites, and other customers confirm that the baklava cheesecake is, in fact, worth driving for.

Petra Mediterranean Pizza and Grill (San Luis Obispo, California)
Petra Mediterranean Pizza and Grill has two locations in San Luis Obispo, but it was the one on Higuera Street that got a visit from "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" in 2025. By the time Guy Fieri showed up on the scene, this place was definitely no stranger to awards, from best-of honors and readers' choice awards to some buzzy national attention. When the show decided to spotlight the shawarma chicken pizza, Fieri found this was no ordinary pizza.
The entire thing was built on something pita-like, rather than your standard crust — and seriously, we're on board with this one. The shawarma was made with sumac, allspice, and seven spice — among other things — which starts to give you a brilliant idea of just how flavorful the meat is. Add in a garlic spread, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, and onions, and if that isn't a winning pizza, we don't know what is.
Fieri thought so, too, calling the chicken a standout alongside the creaminess of the sauce and the delightfully light crust. All the pizzas here get rave reviews: The gyro pizza has steadfast customers ordering it again and again, you won't go wrong with a BBQ chicken and cilantro or a Greek feta, and of course, that chicken shawarma is a hit, too.

Landmark Diner (Charlotte, North Carolina)
North Carolina loves its comfort foods. There are a ton of great places for biscuits and gravy scattered across the state, and when it comes to diners, there are plenty of those, too. "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" headed to the Landmark Diner in Charlotte in 2010, and Guy Fieri found himself visiting the first Greek diner in the city. While there's a little bit of everything you could possibly want on the menu, it was spanakopita that was front and center for the show.
Fieri was legit shocked to see the amount of dill that got added to the pot, married to eggs, spinach, feta, and all the seasonings you could possibly want. Layers and layers of phyllo dough brought the whole thing together, with the heaviest layers on the top and the bottom. The dill, Fieri reported, absolutely worked to create a dish that may have been fairly simple and straightforward, but was absolutely and deliciously comforting.
Landmark Diner is the kind of place that is a stalwart go-to for countless people, there in the backdrop of all of life's important memories and moments. There's something really lovely about that, and fans say there's guaranteed to be something lovely about the food, too. That's true whether you get the chicken souvlaki or the burger, the pork chops or the challah French toast, as you can count on massive portions and friendly faces.

Niko Niko's (Houston, Texas)
Niko Niko's is popular enough to support a few locations, including the Montrose spot that appeared on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" in 2009. It remains a massive destination for out-of-towners and locals alike, and even when Guy Fieri stopped by, he found it already bustling with activity. Loyal customers had been around since day one — in 1977 — lured through the doors time and time again by delicious food made from family recipes.
Fieri got a firsthand look at the lamb shanks, marinated in lemon juice, oregano, garlic, and olive oil (for starters). A day-long marinade process was made easier with the help of a machine that did the hard work in a fraction of the time, and after the lamb shanks cooked for just a few hours in the oven, Fieri was ready to dig in. He couldn't get enough of the ultra-lemony lamb, but he was still shocked by just how popular this place was.
When he asked how many pitas the restaurant used in a week, it was an answer he wasn't prepared for: 12,000 ... give or take. Add in delicious desserts with scratch-made sauces, and it's easy to see how this place has a winning recipe. Customers are still finding plenty to love, from the wonderful staff to out-of-this-world salads, delicious gyros, and those desserts are still a crowd-pleaser, too.

Loops Good Food (Columbus, Ohio)
Loops Good Food is a Greek restaurant that came to Ohio via Chicago, family-owned and operated, and it makes sense: There are a lot of outstanding Greek restaurants in the Windy City, after all. This one was so impressive that it was visited by Guy Fieri twice. After a 2017 visit for "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," he returned for "Triple D Nation."
Real deal gyros took center stage and had their moment to shine in segments that were clearly so much fun to film that they were followed up by apologies from the Loops owners on that return visit. Apologies weren't needed, Fieri stressed, and those kinds of fun times are what make the show truly special. The finished gyro was as delish as it was messy, and Fieri was so blown away that he warned these gyros would ruin all others for anyone fortunate enough to swing by.
It's easy to think that the truth might not live up to the television hype, but years later, "Triple D" fans who make the pilgrimage appreciate the fact that the food on the plate lives up to the food on the show: Those gyros are still winning serious fans. Chicago classics like the Italian beef and hot dogs are standouts, and customers agree that this is one spot that has definitely earned its place among the pantheon of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" alumni.

Methodology
While simply appearing on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" is a glowing recommendation in itself, what makes these spots the best Greek restaurants featured? We looked at Guy Fieri's reactions not only to the food but to the people he met along the way, as well as customers reviews that have come in since each spot was featured. The best restaurants continue to attract new customers and fans of the show, and they are committed to serving the same food that put them in the spotlight in the first place — no matter how many years ago that was.
