It's been a very good year for grocery-store ice cream releases. Though food prices and inflation rates continue to rise, we aren't ready to give up one of our favorite desserts, and ice cream in any form, at any time of year, brings us a joy like no other. From '90s childhood desserts reimagined as ice cream sandwiches to an artisanal brand releasing a hyper-regional flavor that took five years of research, it's never been a better time to make some room in your freezer.

To make this list, we focused on products that debuted in U.S. grocery stores in 2026, rather than old favorites returning for a season. Each pick has garnered positive feedback from fans online, retail review platforms, food reviewers, and plenty of personal experience. Some are more universally loved than others, and some novelty or trend factor might have already passed, but ice cream surpasses any brand collaboration or hyped release. A few of these flavors come from some of the most well-known and best ice cream brands out there, while others are newcomers to the game. But all are deliciously unique and worth seeking out the next time you're in the freezer aisle.

Häagen-Dazs Peanut Butter Brittle Ice Cream

Häagen-Dazs released three new flavors this year, and Peanut Butter Brittle quickly became a fan favorite, including for moi. The peanut butter ice cream holds ribbons of peanut butter caramel and deliciously crunchy caramelized peanuts scattered throughout. If you're a fan of peanut butter desserts but find most of them too artificial, this is a subtler approach, but with all the joy of eating the sticky boomer candy without getting it stuck in your teeth.

Purchase a pint of Häagen-Dazs Peanut Butter Brittle Ice Cream for around $4.89.

Nutella Ice Cream

Nutella, the chocolate hazelnut spread, has been around since 1964, but it waited until now to finally give people what they want. This ice cream is exactly what you want it to be, with a thick disc of hardened Nutella on top, and layers of Nutella swirls and crunchy chunks of chocolate hazelnuts beneath. If you're one of those people who find some desserts "too rich," I'm afraid this may not be for you. But if you, like me, enjoy eating Nutella straight from the jar, it's just right.

Purchase a pint of Nutella Ice Cream at Walmart for around $4.36.

Trader Joe's All Mixed Up Ice Cream

If you hate minimalism and think more is more, try this All Mixed Up flavor, a favorite hidden gem from Trader Joe's that combines vanilla ice cream with peanut butter swirls, chocolate sandwich-cookie pieces, mini chocolate peanut butter cups, candy-coated pretzels, and rainbow sprinkles. It's like going to Cold Stone Creamery and spending an entire gift card just on toppings and mix-ins. Responses on Reddit have been enthusiastic: "I have never been a peanut butter in ice cream fan, but this stuff is outstanding," one user said.

Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pie Ice Cream Sandwiches

Nostalgia sells, and as a '90s kid, I have no shame in admitting that this former favorite sleepover snack sold me at first sight. The vanilla creme-flavored ice cream is tucked between surprisingly soft oatmeal cookies, complete with the oh-so-familiar molasses and cinnamon notes. The marshmallow-like center of the filling also sent me over the moon; it's the rare treat where the ice cream remake is actually better than the original.

Purchase a six-pack box of Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pie Ice Cream Sandwiches for around $8.50.

Tillamook Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Bars

Ice cream bars are new to Tillamook, and the Oregon-based brand actually launched four different flavors this year, but the Mint Chocolate Chip got the most five-star reviews. The appeal is the cool, real mint flavor encased in a chocolate shell that's in a very handy, easy-to-eat format. In a ranking of Tillamook ice cream flavors, we noted that this particular flavor tastes like Andes mints, and that it appeals to those who weren't even the biggest minty-chocolate fans. If you prefer your ice cream on a stick, go grab one.

Purchase a four-pack box of Tillamook Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Bars for around $6.

Ben & Jerry's PB Blondie Bestie Sundae

The tiny team responsible for all of Ben & Jerry's new flavors never seems to take a vacation. The company's latest addition to the brand's Sundaes lineup is a mash-up of four desserts in one, which consists of peanut butter ice cream, chunks of blonde brownies, and graham cracker swirls — then topped with a layer of caramel-y whipped topping and mini peanut butter cups. It's everything I wanted in one too-easy-to-finish-in-one-night pint.

Purchase a pint of Ben & Jerry's PB Blondie Bestie Sundae for around $5.50.

Jeni's Appalachian Acorn Pie

This unconventional fall-flavored ice cream from James Beard Award-winning ice cream maker Jeni's is made with flour from actual foraged Ohio oak acorns milled by an Amish farm. Launched this October after five years of development, the Appalachian Acorn Pie Ice Cream infuses the sweet cream base with a uniquely nutty flavor and a graham cracker crust swirl. Acorns aren't just for squirrels anymore, and this wildly inventive flavor proves it.

Though it's currently sold out online, select scoop shops may still have pints for around $12.

McConnell's Sticky Miso Toffee Ice Cream

McConnell's is an underrated ice cream brand from Santa Barbara, California, that's been around for more than 75 years. For this limited-time offering, it teamed up with fellow Californian company Miso Master to create a sweet-and-salty flavor combination that combines white miso with a sweet cream base and ribbons of butterscotch. If you're someone who digs a little umami with your desserts, this one hits the spot.

Purchase a pint of McConnell's Sticky Miso Toffee for $12.

Mavens Creamery Vietnamese Coffee Ice Cream

This ode to cà phê sữa đá, or Vietnamese iced coffee, was our pick for one of the best new Costco frozen desserts this year. Made with real Robusta coffee sourced from Vietnam and sweetened condensed milk, the result is a rich, smooth dessert with intense coffee notes and a surprising amount of caffeine. One fan on Reddit commented, "I think it's phenomenal. Extremely rich coffee ice cream."

Purchase a two-pint pack at select Costcos for $15.99.

Magnum Dubai Chocolate Ice Cream Bars

I've never met a Magnum ice cream bar I didn't like, and this latest attempt to capture the viral Dubai chocolate bar flavor is no exception. The shell is 39% cacao milk chocolate and studded with crispy kadayif pieces, while the creamy pistachio ice cream inside is also blended with the finely shredded pastry. It has all the novelty and texture of Dubai chocolate, but with the exceptionally rich chocolate flavors Magnum is known for.

Purchase a three-bar box of Magnum Dubai Chocolate Ice Cream Bars for around $5.50.
