'They're A Complete Waste' — Costco Shoppers Warn Against This Frozen Item Even When It's On A Discount

Costco customers love the store's freezer section. From favorites like the Kirkland Signature Italian Sausage and Beef Lasagna to the Kirkland Signature Lightly Breaded Chicken Breast Chunks that shoppers say taste even better than the Just Bare brand, it's easy to make a delicious, affordable dinner from the Costco freezer section. But there is a Costco frozen item that shoppers say you should skip, even if it's on deep discount: Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips.

Costco shoppers have taken to Reddit to share their dislike of these chicken strips. On the Costco Reddit community, one user gave the Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips a scalding review, writing, "Worst chicken strips EVER. We have 3 kids (4 including me) and eat a LOT of chicken strips/nuggets. [It was] like chewing on a tire. A shark would struggle eating these things. Will never buy again."

Another Redditor called the Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips one of the Costco items that you shouldn't waste your money on, commenting, "I bought the Tyson strips when they were on sale. They're a complete waste." But not everyone is in full agreement, with one commenter saying the Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips were delicious.

Not all Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips are created equal

Interestingly, there is another type of Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips that has higher reviews from Redditors, but you can't find it at Costco. Tyson provides different products to different stores, which is why you can find another type of Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips at Target, Walmart, and Hy-Vee. The brown bag of Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips (the one you can buy at Costco) is made with brown sugar, garlic powder, cornstarch, and spices; the red bag of Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips is made with dried onion, rice flour, tapioca starch, and cocoa powder.

The red bag of Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips comes in a variety of flavors, like regular, honey BBQ, and buffalo style. Our reviewer ranks the red bag of Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips as the second best product in the Tyson frozen chicken line. The reviewer says that the chicken is moist and the coating is crunchy, and she thinks it would be perfect in a fried chicken sandwich.

If you aren't happy with the Tyson Crispy Chicken Strips you bought at Costco, the good news is that you can easily return it to the store. Costco's return policy is hassle-free, so simply bring the product back to the store with your receipt to get a refund. While you're there, go back to the frozen section and grab a box of Texas Roadhouse Mini Rolls. It's one of the best new products to buy at Costco in August 2026, along with other new frozen items like the TwistPop Triple Berry Frozen Confection Pops.
