Give Culver's ButterBurger A Makeover That Rivals McDonald's For 50% More Flavor
Among burger fanatics, it's awfully hard to beat the Big Mac. It's a burger with its own jingle that is so popular that hundreds of millions of them are sold in the U.S. each year. But as beloved as the Big Mac is, sometimes burger lovers are drawn elsewhere. In fact, Culver's can easily give its burger a Big Mac-esque makeover that some customers say trumps even the McDonald's offering on flavor.
According to one foodie on YouTube, turning a Culver's burger into a Big Mac can be delicious. This so-called "Big Mac ButterBurger" features the famous multi-tiered bun with all the necessary ingredients between them — but it requires careful ordering. The order starts with a ButterBurger with cheese ordered with double meat (though you can also order a double ButterBurger), an extra pickle, some extra lettuce, a side of Thousand Island dressing, and a side of bun.
That may sound like a mouthful, but it gives you all the ingredients you need to make your own Culver's-style Big Mac. Once you've ordered, it's time to build. As demonstrated, customers peel off the top bun and the first beef layer before topping the bottom burger with Thousand Island sauce. The middle bun is inserted in and topped with more sauce before the top patty and bun is placed on top. When in doubt, just look up a Big Mac for inspiration.
A ButterBurger made way better
Culver's sets itself apart from its competitors with a proprietary beef blend made from three cuts of meat. Its buttered, toasted buns are also of note, giving ButterBurgers their famous name and extra flavor. The taste of these elements is amplified with the Big Mac ButterBurger, and customers can control the amount of sauce on the burger as they build it. The Big Mac might be famous — and offer a sesame seed bun — but the burgers are frozen, and the buns are lightly toasted. So, Culver's already offers more before any of the Big Mac elements are added.
As far as ordering is concerned, doing so in person is the best way to get the Big Mac ButterBurger just right. Some customizations can be made online, but you may not be able to make all of them — for instance, the double portions of certain ingredients, the addition of Thousand Island sauce, and the extra bun. Some ingredients, such as the Thousand Island sauce, are offered on Culver's Grilled Reuben Melt but not as a standalone sauce, so you will have to ask.
The Culver's ButterBurger and the McDonald's Big Mac are both renowned on their own. However, the Big Mac ButterBurger takes everything that's amazing about a ButterBurger and amplifies it the way McDonald's has been doing for years. Once you've tried it, you can give some other Culver's order upgrades a go to take your tastebuds (and Culver's favorites) to another level.
