Fans of energy drinks and sour candies — this one's for you. Ghost Energy has crafted a flavor for fans of popular sour candies, but its execution is so tasty that foodies of all walks can get behind it. In Tasting Table's ranking of 11 Ghost energy drink flavors, Warheads Sour Green Apple swept the competition as the tastiest. The unique, memorable flavor of this sleeper hit took us by surprise. Its neon green packaging is a fitting preview of the bold taste inside, even for a zero-sugar drink. Ghost Energy Drinks are known for their sweet taste and can come off as cloying in flavors like Orange Cream, which ranked last in our lineup. By contrast, the sweet-sour interplay of the Warheads flavor creates an artful balance that totally works.

It's worth mentioning that in a previous Tasting Table taste test of 15 energy drink brands other than Red Bull, Ghost Energy ranked pretty poorly, coming in at #13 (ouch). However, this lackluster performance might be chalked up to the fact that the flavors selected in this taste test were Ghost Energy's Cherry Limeade and Sour Patch Kids Blue Raspberry varieties. Had we selected the Warheads Sour Green Apple flavor instead, perhaps the brand would've placed higher overall.

Warheads Sour Green Apple is Ghost Energy's most hauntingly tasty drink

Warheads are among the most sour candies in the world, so it's no surprise that this flavor is a high-voltage beverage. Our taste-tester warned this isn't a casual sipper, saying, "The sourness here is wildly intense, so you have to be prepared to have your taste buds stripped (in a good way) to enjoy this stuff." Still, the sweetness helps balance that sour intensity, making it more manageable than you might expect. The capture of that classic green apple flavor of the popular sour candy is uncannily accurate, too, delivering a nostalgic hit for anyone who grew up enjoying Warheads.

We aren't the only ones digging Ghost Energy Warheads Sour Green Apple, either. One Redditor simply calls the flavor "The goat." Commenters on the r/energydrinks thread echo, "Green apple is gonna be hard to top for me," and "That's it, I don't try any more energy drinks I only sip this one."

Elsewhere online, one Amazon customer review of the flavor raves, "LOVE IT [...] The first sip has that tart, puckery green apple taste that immediately reminded me of eating Warheads. It's sweet, sour, and definitely has more bite to it than your typical fruity energy drink." Still, the poster notes that this bold beauty might not be for everyone: "If you don't like sour drinks, this probably isn't going to be your thing. But if you're specifically buying it because you WANT that sour candy flavor, they nailed it." The price is right, too. A 12-pack of 16-ounce cans of Ghost Energy Warheads Sour Green Apple currently runs for $29.99 on Amazon.
