8 Aldi Chocolate Covered Treats To Buy And 2 To Leave On The Shelves

Aldi has so many little nooks and corners stuffed with treats. It feels like you could never quite see everything the store has to offer, whether you want some frozen sweets or some baked goods. That's not even factoring in that the grocery chain brings new items into the fold every so often. While it may seem overwhelming, it's a big blessing for sweet lovers and snackers out there — Aldi is your (chocolate-covered) oyster. I scouted as many chocolate-coated items as possible and found a solid list of covered nuts, fruits, and cookies.

Some are fantastic, others are good, and there is a small batch that had some flaws that I couldn't get behind. Since this isn't a ranking, I'm breaking my picks into what to buy and what to skip. I'm basing my opinions on the overall flavor execution and texture of the foods, but pricing occasionally factors in. A successful treat doesn't have to be the world's best option, but it shouldn't face major issues like disproportionate elements that make it difficult to enjoy or subpar flavors.

Buy: Choceur Blueberry Açaí Dark Chocolate

If you want an Aldi version of Brookside's blueberry açaí chocolate-coated morsels, then I have just the product. The Choceur Blueberry Açaí Dark Chocolate has the gooey, chewy fruit center and a thick chocolate coating associated with the bigger name-brand. The interior has a sweet-tart flavor that helps it feel balanced, but it pairs marvelously with the bittersweet chocolate too. I think these run a bit sweet, so you don't need many little nibbles to curb your sweet tooth.

These are great in the fridge for a chewier, cooler texture. You'll get 7 ounces of product, so it's a pleasant snack to have around, but it's not like you're committing to an enormous container like those other stores sell. The fruity inside contains apple and blueberry puree, açaí, and blueberry juices. There's a touch of natural flavor, elderberry juice, and lemon juice as well; these ingredients help the treats taste nicely fruity and multi-dimensional rather than artificial. If you know you like chocolate and gummy-like products, this might be a good option to try.

Buy: Choceur Pomegranate Dark Chocolate

I think the Choceur Blueberry Açaí Dark Chocolate is the more memorable of the two similar products, but the pomegranate is nice as well. It still hits the sweet yet slightly acidic note, but with a slightly different flavor. This one sees pear and pomegranate juice concentrate as the fruity center, which simply results in a mostly sweet filling, but there's a hint of tang toward the end of the bite. If it were more pomegranate-centered, the tartness might have been more noticeable — and therefore more of an enthusiastic "buy" item. As it is, pear juice is typically very candy-like in its sweetness, and that's why these are less interesting than the blueberry açaí.

These are fine but not the best option on this list. I can't say they have any major issues, though, that would convince me to tell you to skip them altogether. This 7-ounce bag is tasty, and I think Choceur Pomegranate Dark Chocolate morsels are a solid option with an approachable portion size. Feel free to get them, but don't stop what you're doing to grab them.

Buy: Season's Choice Frozen Strawberries Covered in Dark Chocolate

I have to hand it to Aldi. These frozen strawberries covered in dark chocolate are fantastic. Of course, this flavor combination is already well-known and successful in the form of chocolate-covered strawberries, so it's not that it's particularly unique; it's just well made. If you're familiar with brands like Tru Fru, Aldi's version is kind of nice because it's all dark chocolate.

In comparison, Tru Fru has a white chocolate layer and then dark chocolate on the exterior (it also has a milk and white chocolate combo). I like these, but I think that Aldi's is even more successful because it allows me to enjoy the flavors I like the most: a bittersweet, robust dark chocolate with ripe strawberries. And believe me, I've tried all Tru Fru's frozen fruit flavors. For the most part, the berries are quite small, which I feel usually indicates a sweeter, but not overripe, strawberry base.

As you might see in the picture, some of them are a little larger, but I find Tru Fru's are considerably larger all-around. I like the more petite-sized pieces for this Aldi item, and this is an enormous win for me. As if the great flavors and textures weren't enough, it's around half the price of name-brand, too. You get 5.3 ounces, which isn't enormous, but it's a great option for a fun family treat or just to stow away in the freezer so you can grab a piece whenever you want.

Buy: Choceur Dark Chocolate Covered Coconut Almonds

When you want something a little more complex than basic chocolate-coated nuts, then I suggest the Choceur Dark Chocolate Covered Coconut Almonds. I've had these before, and they're quite delicious for the coconut lovers out there. The distinct layers add complexity to the bite: It starts with the chocolate exterior, an inner coconut layer, and then the nut. That means the chocolate is the first thing I taste, but as I nibble, it starts to transform and the coconut becomes quite clear. However, it isn't overwhelming or too fragrant.

I love the taste because it plays on familiar flavors while tossing coconut into the mix, resulting in a creamy, nutty combination that makes them so easy to snack on. It's like a jazzed-up choco almond, and I'm all for it. These are fantastic to put out for guests or to keep on hand as your everyday snack because of the interesting coconut and nut mix. They work nicely on a grazing board too since they blend bittersweet chocolate with the sweetened coconut mixture. Try chopping a few to place over a bowl of yogurt or to sprinkle over chocolate bark.

Buy: Specially Selected Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Cashews

Cashews are one of my favorite nuts, but I don't see chocolate-covered versions nearly as much as almonds. I don't think Specially Selected Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Cashews are particularly inventive, but it is good enough that I can understand it being a staple in households. Cashews and chocolate make a fantastic combination, in my opinion, and the dark chocolate adds a bittersweet touch that keeps it from feeling particularly cloying. Then there's the addition of sea salt, which makes it even more complex and rounds out the sugar element.

Aldi is pretty heavy-handed with the chocolate layer, but it isn't as obvious or disappointing as it is with the freeze-dried strawberries. At least I can still taste the nut, and it offers a firm crunch that sets it apart from the chocolate layer. This package is a wonderful option if you have guests coming or simply want a treat to enjoy over the course of a week. The price point is compelling compared to other grocery store items on an ounce-for-ounce basis, so it's well worth buying. These would be great chopped and sprinkled onto date and pistachio bites.

Buy: Simply Nature Organic Gluten Free Dark Chocolate Coconut Clusters

The Simply Nature Organic Gluten Free Dark Chocolate Coconut Clusters are exactly as described — woohoo. They are like small mounds and clumps of sunflower and pumpkin seeds, quinoa, and coconut. The medley is coated in dark chocolate, creating a rich, deep flavor. The coconut gives these plenty of texture — crunchy, slightly firm, but there's also some fattiness in the flesh and seed combo. There's a bit of crunch that makes it taste like you're eating chocolate-covered trail mix.

The organic product comes with 10 ounces of sweets, and you can have one piece (or handful, as the sizing varies) and feel quite satisfied. It's nutty, bittersweet, and perfectly decadent, so the bag can last you if you go for the smaller portions. They are quite prone to melting if it's hot or next to something warm like your coffee maker, so I would store them in the fridge or a cool, dark place if that is a concern in your area — they started to clump together at my house due to a heatwave.

Still, this is the perfect afternoon snack to pair with a relaxing cup of coffee or tea. You can slowly chew on the pieces, enjoying the little nuts and coconut pieces as the chocolate melts in your mouth. This is certainly something to savor rather than scarf down.

Buy: Benton's Peanut Butter Fudge Cookies

The Benton's Peanut Butter Fudge Cookies are considered one of the top picks to get on your first trip to Aldi, thanks to their blend of familiar flavors, richness, and a smidge of salt to add dimension. I mean, there are so many sweets that pair peanut butter with chocolate since the flavors complement one another so well. The Aldi item, specifically, has a fudge cookie foundation, followed by a layer of peanut butter; they are then coated in chocolate to create an even richer cookie. It tastes just as you'd imagine, with a successful blend of milky, creamy chocolate and heavier peanut butter notes.

I think the chocolate coating is a bit thick and could use a thinner layer, but it's still a flavorful combination. I like that the cookie is otherwise pretty thin, so it's not like you get an enormous glob of a sweet. The cookie center is crisp, while the PB and chocolate exterior are softer and melt against my tongue. I think these are a tasty crowd-pleaser for events and gatherings. The price is approachable for 9.5 ounces of cookies, too, beating out discount stores like Walmart. I wouldn't call myself the biggest fan, but I can certainly see the appeal.

Buy: Benton's Italian Choco Wafers

The Benton's Italian Choco Wafers packaging looks nondescript, and I was surprised to see that each cookie was round — that's a kind of fun differentiator compared to most rectangular wafer cookies. These are like a circular Kit Kat, but with higher-quality milk chocolate. The chocolate is clearly milky with a mellowness that balances the cocoa taste. The chocolate exterior is really delicious, but then you have the layered chocolate and wafer elements. This is perfect to pack for a school or work lunch thanks to the individual wrapping.

The cookies are actually a fan favorite, with customers saying they also enjoy them from the freezer. I actually tried them frozen by accident after putting them in the freezer because they were melting. It created a nice, snappy element, although the wafer admittedly didn't taste as fresh that way. These are actually imported from Italy, so they live up to their name with quality chocolate I don't find in a lot of low-quality chocolate brands these days. That said, they are a bit pricey given that you only get six cookies, so I would purchase this as a novel, occasional item rather than incorporate it into a weekly snack rotation.

Leave: Simply Nature Dark Chocolate Covered Freeze Dried Strawberries

Ah, our first skip. I was so disappointed in the Simply Nature Dark Chocolate Covered Freeze Dried Strawberries. The idea is there, but the execution is subpar. I'd expect a crisp strawberry foundation and a dark chocolate shell, but the chocolate is so heavily applied compared to the thin fruit sliver. There's nothing proportional about this, and it hardly tastes like strawberries. I get a smidge of tang but only if I look for it.

This is such a bummer because I really love the combination. The freeze-dried fruit is usually so crunchy and gets stuck in your teeth in the best way. But Aldi's strawberries hardly showcase the fruit. The chocolate is just as thick as the berry on either side, so it's twice as much chocolate per berry — and that is far too much. The proportions are terrible. Imagine if a chocolate-covered fresh strawberry had twice as much chocolate as berry. That would be ludicrous.

Some speculate Aldi does this to hit the designated weight per package, but you really end up with a tiny amount of fruit. These were voted Products of the Year in 2025; however, in 2026, many customers have also complained that the ratio seems to have changed.

Leave: Simply Nature Dark Chocolate Covered Freeze Dried Banana

The Simply Nature Dark Chocolate Covered Freeze Dried Banana faces many of the same issues as the freeze-dried strawberries, but I think the banana is somewhat better. Firstly, the banana is noticeably thicker, resulting in a more banana-forward flavor. At least it tastes somewhat banana-like compared to the strawberry's extremely mild flavor, although I still see the super-thick chocolate layers, which isn't ideal. Secondly, the freeze-dried bananas here almost taste and feel stale; they're not as crunchy as I would expect from a freeze-dried product.

And they taste like the banana was overly ripe when it was freeze-dried. These are okay, not good enough for me to fully endorse and tell you to go out and grab them. I don't think they're bad enough to make you spit them out, but these aren't worth a repurchase. I'll have to hunt for another chocolatey freeze-dried fruit option elsewhere, as I'd love to find a product with a better fruit flavor and balance of fruit to chocolate.

Methodology

I picked up everything from one Aldi location and was surprised that everything was in stock; some items are often harder to find. I ended up locating an array of chocolatey snacks, but had to be specific about my criteria. They fall into one of two camps — buy or leave on the shelves. I judged the products based on how the ingredients taste and work together, whether there were any strange, overwhelming textures, and, sometimes, the cost (though that was secondary to taste and texture).

The skippable items have some issues that I can't get behind: poorly constructed snacks with overwhelming, unbalanced elements. Everything else was deemed a worthy purchase, and I noted when I absolutely loved something versus when I thought it was good enough to stay in the "buy" column. That said, I'm sure the options to avoid still have loyal fans, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt.
