Costco Is Bringing Back A Food Court Treat, But Fans Aren't Exactly Excited

Costco is notorious for discontinuing and reintroducing items, regularly bringing back old favorites a few times a year. In 2026 alone, we've seen the return of Costco's Greek Pasta Salad with Rotisserie Chicken, the Kirkland Signature Chicken Pot Pie, and Kirkland Shepherd's Pie, and many others. Costco's Twisted Churros are also coming back to the food court after being removed in early 2024, but they're not getting as enthusiastic a welcome as expected.

Before Costco announced the Twisted Churros' return, it teased that a mystery item was coming back. In a Reddit thread with over 1,500 comments speculating before the reveal and reacting afterward, plenty of commenters were unhappy about the return. Even among Costco churro fans, many agree the straight churros Costco sold pre-COVID were superior, and the Twisted Churros aren't as good. 

The negative reaction isn't unprecedented, as Costco's churros have a history of negative reviews. "They're always disappointing when I get em. Feel like they've been sitting for a couple days," said one user on Instagram. "These are terrible compared to the pre-Covid version and are 50% more expensive," said a Redditor in 2023. "Nasty, doughy, dry, and overpriced. Bring back the old Churros," replied another. Many commenters said they'd rather see other discontinued items return.

"I would rather have the combo pizza," said one commenter on Instagram. The comment received over 300 likes. In a massive Reddit thread, more than two dozen comments supported the Combo Pizza too, many of which had dozens of upvotes. While you can make your own version of Costco's Combo Pizza at home, many are still disappointed that it brought back the churros instead.

Another popular item that got a lot of love on social media in the lead-up to the Twisted Churro's return was the Polish dog. Fans on Reddit lamented that the churros were making a comeback rather than the Polish dog. "Not being able to get a polish dog makes me a little sad every time I go to Costco," said one Redditor. Luckily, there is a copycat you can try to prepare at home.

Of course, not everyone is disappointed that Costco's Twisted Churros are returning. Some of the social media commentary was excited for their comeback. Part of the problem may be that Costco hyped this one up by making the returning item a mystery, giving shoppers a chance to speculate. Everyone who had other expectations was bound to be disappointed.
