Subway Customers Beg For This Discontinued Sub To Be Reeled Back Onto The Menu

Petitions are usually reserved for social and political issues, but sometimes a different challenge brings people together in the search for justice — take for example, a discontinued Subway sandwich. The Seafood Sensation, featuring chunked imitation crab and mayo in its plainest version, was discontinued from the continental U.S. sometime in 2020, and the fans still miss it so much there's a dedicated petition online to bring the sandwich back.

"We. Demand. The. Return. Of. The. Seafood. SENSATION," pens the author of the petition on Change.org, before going on to label the sub as a "sumptuous combination of processed crab and seafood" and dubbing it "the epitome of sandwich comfort." Indeed, the menu item was beloved by many, with some customers commenting on the petition site that they stopped eating at Subway once the Seafood Sensation was removed, and others admitting they still crave the sandwich several years later. As expressed by the petition's author, "It is entirely within the capability of the Subway Corporation to right this egregious wrong." As of October 2026, the classic tuna sandwich is the only seafood sub left on the menu.

There's not just a petition, though. Subway's Seafood Sensation also has a dedicated Facebook group where like-minded fans lament the sub's discontinuation, count the decision among Subway's biggest failures of all time, and frequently post photos of the sandwich when they encounter it on international Subway menus.

Subway's Seafood Sensation remains only in the hearts of American customers — and on a few international menus

While passionate Seafood Sensation fans undoubtedly worry that the sandwich is one of the many discontinued fast food menu items we may never get back, the sub is not completely gone from the world just yet. It's actually still available in the Virgin Islands, the only U.S. territory that carries it. Seafood Sensation is also on the menu in some international locations, such as Australia, Curaçao, Portugal, and the Cayman Islands. It was actually discontinued in Australia in 2018, but then ultimately brought back two years later because customers kept begging for its return. So, there's hope!

Now, unless you're about to book a plane ticket or settle for one of the many other fast food fish sandwiches out there, your best bet to enjoy the Seafood Sensation is to make it at home. Our sister site, Mashed, has a great recipe for a copycat Subway Seafood Sensation that comes together in seven minutes and is made with imitation crab meat, mayo, cheese, and a few veggies of choice — very similar to the sandwich you'd order at the chain. The only noticeably different thing will probably be the bread, but that might actually be a good thing, given that Subway bread rolls don't have the best reputation.
