Baking pastries at home is a rewarding feat but the kind of culinary endeavor that can take forever. Luckily, we found some frozen desserts at Aldi that taste pretty close to the ones you would spend all day crafting at home. In a recent taste test review of Aldi frozen desserts, we deemed 10 frozen desserts worth buying and 8 that were better left in the frozen food aisle. In terms of breakfast pastries, our taste tester specifically noted that one frozen treat was a standout: Specially Selected Apple Berry Blossoms.

These pastry pockets resemble a small apple galette and come filled with Northern Spy apples, as well as blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. According to our taste tester, "These simple-to-bake Apple Berry Blossoms taste like a homemade treat that took hours to prepare." Making a layered pastry dough treat like these at home can take hours of preparing, chilling, then filling the dough before even thinking of placing it in the oven. On the contrary, you just pop Aldi's Apple Berry Blossoms in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit and in 15 minutes you'll have a flaky layered treat with a fruity and warm filling. Think: a morning breakfast in pretty much as long as it takes to heat the coffee. Or serve it with a scoop of Aldi's best ice cream products, and you have a dessert worth savoring. Plus, each box comes with two fruit-filled pastries for just $1.99 (at the time of writing). Talk about a steal.

A convenient and delicious pastry solution for home

Aldi's Apple Berry Blossoms are well-worth the try in your own kitchen, if not simply for the intrigue of the ease of a fruit-filled pastry at home. Many frozen or refrigerated dessert brands at the grocery store offer crescent rolls or croissants in frozen form, but the taste of these fruit-filled treats is more memorable than your standard grocery store frozen dessert. "The combination of sweet apples and tart berries makes every bite lively and vibrant," our taste tester wrote about the amply filled pastry pockets, also noting that the buttery quality of the pastry dough and crystallized sugar on top adds a favorable texture and appealing look to the product.

And customers agree that the Apple Berry Blossoms could be easily mistaken for the best homemade classic apple desserts. "These taste like the product of a whole kitchen full of grannies pouring their hearts and souls into apple desserts," one customer wrote in a Facebook post about the frozen pastries. They also noted that the pastry was "decadent" without the filling being cloyingly sweet (as some frozen pastries can tend to be). Another user recommended vanilla ice cream as the treat's "perfect pair," making these pastries an easy stand-in for homemade apple pie à la mode.
