Dolly Parton's '9 To 5'-Inspired Coffee Is Finally Here, 40 Years In The Making

The world will never know another Dolly Parton. The late iconic country star passed away in August 2026. What the world will know, however, is how it feels to pour themselves a cup of her endless ambition. Parton spent decades writing songs and singing about the plights of the working woman, so it only makes sense that she created a coffee line inspired by her 1980 hit single and movie "9 to 5." Fittingly, Cup of Ambition coffee is officially available nationwide as of September 29, which is National Coffee Day. 

Cup of Ambition coffee is a partnership between her and the Louisiana-based coffee brand, Community Coffee, and has apparently been 40 years in the making. It comes as no surprise that the name hails straight from the lyrics of "9 to 5," in which Parton bemoans the corporate grind and unequal workplace politics for women. This is more than just another celebrity-branded coffee, however. Parton worked with the Saurage family, the founders behind Community Coffee, to develop the lineup of light, medium, and dark roasts. Purchases will also support Parton's Imagination Library, her literacy program for children.

Parton had her own coffee routine like anyone else. "I begin each morning with a head full of dreams, a notepad full of ideas, and a cup or two of coffee," she stated in the launch announcement from Community Coffee. Parton is certainly no stranger to the prepared foods world. In 2022, she released a line of baking mixes that included biscuits, cookies, and cakes.

For now, the Cup of Ambition products are sold as ground coffee, with K-cup versions also part of the lineup. The beans are all 100% Arabica, with the light roast said to feature notes of vanilla and stone fruit, while the medium roast leans toward milk chocolate and caramel. Finally, the dark roast combines cherry and bittersweet chocolate. Seeing as Dolly Parton's favorite foods were sweet Southern delicacies, there's no doubt she'd like a strong cup of joe to balance it all out.

Cup of Ambition coffee made its first appearance at Parton's Tennessee rest stop, which opened in Cornersville, Tennessee, in the summer of 2026. But luckily, you won't have to make the pilgrimage down south to try the beans. The coffee is available for nationwide shipping from Community Coffee's website, as well as online retailers like Amazon and Walmart, where it currently retails for around $10.
