Our taste tester had the pleasure of sampling 15 items from the store's bakery, and the Danishes stood out from the crowd. They tried the cream cheese and the cherry flavors, both of which had a great balance between tanginess and sweetness, making them great picks for breakfast. There's just enough sugar to lift you up but not so much that it feels like dessert, which means the Danishes are a great alternative to toast or croissants when you want to start the day with something special. While you're at the store, you could grab a protein shake or juice to go along with the pastry for a more complete meal.

The Danishes are priced at $11.99 and sold in two separate packs of four, so you're getting eight pastries altogether which you can get in two different flavors. Admittedly, that's a lot of Danishes if you're only buying breakfast for yourself, but you'll be pleased to know the tasty pastries freeze well.

The cream cheese and the cherry aren't the only Danish flavors you'll encounter at Costco's bakery; the store often introduces new flavors without any heads-up. For example, back in 2024, Costco's Danishes were a 2-for-1 treat that featured a mix of two flavors (berry and cheese) in a single pastry. Other past and present flavors include almond, guava, apple, and strawberry cream cheese (which is one of Costco's best new bakery items of 2026).

Despite the scrumptious flavors of Costco's Danishes, many customers count them among the more overpriced Costco bakery items. As mentioned, the price is $11.99 for eight Danishes, but shoppers remember when the price tag used to be lower. "The danish mix and match deal went up a ton, [sic]" reads one such Reddit comment.

In 2021, eight Danish pastries were priced at $9.99, and even then there was some online buzz about the fact they'd recently gone up $2. The price was then raised again in 2022 to what it is today, which comes out to $1.50 per Danish. Some customers defend the current price, saying it's still cheaper than a bakery. "Ive bought danishes before that were 2.25 each, so just depends on what youre willing to spend for quality, [sic]" opined one shopper.
