There's no shortage of burgers at a fast food restaurant like McDonald's, but when you've got so many options laid out before you, how can you possibly narrow it down? In this day and age, that decision may or may not boil down to three important things: customer reviews, price, and nutritional value. When it comes down to those simple classifications, we found that McDonald's Bacon McDouble far outshines the Big Mac.

While exploring the ultimate ranking of every McDonald's burger, our taster ranked the Bacon McDouble as the fourth best out of 11, while the classic Big Mac came in at number 10. Though it's not the Mona Lisa of burgers, our taster particularly enjoyed how the Bacon McDouble's diced onions collided with the tang of the ketchup, the tartness of the pickles, and the umami of the pork and beef. The bacon really helps this burger shine, adding a chewy, fatty, protein-filled element that makes up for the sandwich's pitfalls, such as its minimal amount of mustard. With two beef patties and several strips of Applewood smoked bacon, the Bacon McDouble is one of those burgers that has a perfect balance of all the flavors you'd want.

The Bacon McDouble brings more to the table

Not only does McDonald's Bacon McDouble shine brighter than its Big Mac, but it's typically cheaper, too. Although price may vary depending on location, the Bacon McDouble goes for about $5.49 at the time of writing, whereas the Big Mac goes for about $7.69, even though it's still not the absolute best McDonald's burger for your money. The Bacon McDouble also contains 26 grams of protein, which puts it slightly higher than the Big Mac's 25 grams, thanks to those strips of Applewood smoked bacon. Even with a layer of pork that the Big Mac doesn't have, the Bacon McDouble comes in at 460 calories and 32 grams of carbs, while the Big Mac has 580 calories and 45 grams of carbs.

When McDonald's rolled out the Bacon McDouble in 2013, it was part of the brand's revamped dollar menu, which included several other new items in the $2 to $3 range. The recipe from back then mirrors today's burger, including bacon, dill pickles, American cheese, and onions. Still, the modern version of the Bacon McDouble also comes with condiments like ketchup and mustard. It may not be included on McDonald's dollar menu anymore, since it seems like fast food dollar menus are a thing of the past, but as this Redditor summarizes, it's "exactly what hits the spot, with a hit of childhood nostalgia."
