But did you know that the company also owns several other brands that specialize in kitchen appliances? Whirlpool doesn't just have tumble drying and spin cycles on its mind most of the time. The company also offers plenty of appliances that fit perfectly in your kitchen.

The outfit makes everything from fancy ovens to powerful stand-up mixers to water filters; it just does so through popular brand names which, at first blush, might not seem to bear a connection to the might that is Whirlpool. All six of these companies are a subsidiary of Whirlpool in some way, though their business is diverse, and their name brands are independently established. Here are six appliance brands that are a major part of the Whirlpool kitchen appliance ecosystem, even if they aren't openly advertised in that way.

Maker of heavy duty and much-cherished stand-up mixers, KitchenAid is the most popular U.S. kitchen appliance brand, having been acquired by Whirlpool in 1986. Aside from those recognizable mixer units, the brand is known for blenders and other small appliances like coffee makers, kettles, and food processors. It also produces major appliances like wall ovens and cooktops.

Yep, even the Maytag Man is now a part of the Whirlpool family. Maytag famously makes home appliances like washers and driers, as well as various kitchen-based appliances like refrigerators and ranges. It's also also one of the best dishwasher brands, per customer reviews. Interestingly, the 2006 acquisition also tucked two more famous appliance brands under Whirlpool's umbrella.

When Maytag was acquired by the company in 2006, JennAir came along with it. Each filter can be easily self-replaced by the consumer, as well, avoiding lengthily appointments with maintenance workers.
