Domino's Vs Pizza Hut: Which Pizza Chain Is Better For Topping Lovers?

Life is full of tough decisions. For those who love their pizza toppings, choosing between Pizza Hut and Domino's could be one of them. Because taste is subjective and data can be sliced like pizza (any way you like it), there really is no clear all-around, hands-down winner for which is "better" in this category, but we'll take a swing at it.

Both of these popular pizza chains technically offer a whopping 21 toppings to choose from. It's how the types of toppings break down that makes deciding between Pizza Hut and Domino's nearly a toss up. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference  and a careful analysis of their menus.

A casual comparison reveals that meat lovers may find themselves drawn to Pizza Hut, whose menu is rolling deep with plentiful meat toppings. Though both pizzerias have a majority of meat offerings in common (pepperoni, Italian sausage, chicken breast, ground beef, ham, and bacon), Pizza Hut offers nine total toppings — three of which are not on Domino's menu (crispy cupped pepperoni, chicken sausage, and pork sausage). However, Domino's (which is the world's best-selling pizza chain in 2026) has one enticing ace up its sleeve in the meat department — Philly steak. We're ruling this one a toss-up. With so many shared meaty favorites, it all comes down to your current cravings.

What about produce? Well, while you might think Domino's must being going long on the veggie toppings, but that's not the case. Pizza Hut pulls ahead with 11 total plant-based toppings, while Domino's has just nine (including eight selections they have in common like green peppers, black olives, and mushrooms). Differences include caramelized onions, garlic, and fire roasted peppers from Pizza Hut, and spinach at Domino's.

Both places offer 21 toppings in total (including drizzle sauces), but Pizza Hut comes out on top in terms of variety with more meat and more produce options. But Domino's is still in this, providing four separate add-on cheese toppings (provolone, Parmesan-Asiago, feta, and a cheddar blend) that Pizza Hut simply doesn't have. Chock-it-up to just another small difference between Pizza Hut and Dominos, or you could argue that it is this that makes Domino's the best option for cheese-a-tarians.

Any way you slice it, it all comes down to taste. While some pizza lovers prefer the largest possible selection of toppings, others care less about the numbers and more about who carries the best tasting version of their favorite topping, and some are just fixated on which pizza giant is a more generous topper. Guess you'll just have to try them both to find your personal sweet spot. Either way, both pizza chains offer the best value in 2026.
