- Cortney began baking when she decided to become vegan. Though the dietary decision was short-lived, it opened her eyes to the importance of using the right ingredients.
- Whether cooking or crafting a cocktail, Cortney can always create something tasty by utilizing whatever staples she has lying around. She even learned how to make recipe ingredients such as simple syrup, soup stock, and assorted seasonings using fresh herbs.

Cortney has been writing professionally for over a decade. From 2016 to 2023, she worked as an entertainment and lifestyle reporter for The International Business Times, where she covered viral, trending, entertainment, lifestyle, and breaking news, building reader engagement both on social media and across the websites. She has also spent time dabbling in the fashion world, including compiling best and worst dress lists and working behind the scenes at New York Fashion Week. As an amateur baker and creative home cook, Cortney decided to explore her interest in food writing. In 2024, she joined Tasting Table, covering a range of topics from the best ice cream brands to the top dishes at Olive Garden. Whether it is breaking news on a major story or sharing the details of a shocking celebrity breakup, Cortney wants to deliver the news in a clear and interesting way that allows readers to form their own opinions.
