Carson Kugler

• Carson's lifelong passion for baking led her to develop her own wedding cake recipe and bake it from scratch. A chocolate cake with orange blossom-dark chocolate ganache, salted caramel-clove white chocolate ganache, and orange buttercream, it took four weeks to make and was a hit with guests.
• Carson has hosted an annual "Chopped"-style cooking competition in her home kitchen for three years running. Every summer, she dares four friends to show their stuff in a thrilling three-course elimination challenge while a gaggle of judges looks on and declares a winner. (She's currently the reigning champ!)
• Carson's obsession with dessert led her to begin a cake plate collection 17 dishes deep. Yard sales, thrift stores, and antique shops never saw her coming.

Experience

Raised on a steady diet of food television, Carson earned degrees in baking and pastry as well as a creative writing before making her own mark on food media. She is a freelance writer, editor, and content strategist covering everything from food and drink to home. Through warm and inviting storytelling, she combines her backgrounds in baking and creative writing to craft recipes and features that celebrate food, people, and culture. Her work has appeared in publications like Delish, Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, and Esquire, and today she collaborates with food and lifestyle brands to bring engaging, ingredient-driven content to life.

Education

Carson studied baking and pastry at Johnson & Wales University before shifting her sights to food media and earning a bachelor's degree in creative writing from Hofstra University.
