Do you ever get the urge to bake a new dessert, but find yourself unsure of the recipe? Preparing sweet treats can involve multiple steps, unfamiliar ingredients, and techniques that you're not comfortable with. There's no shame in it. Baking can be very intimidating, and it takes practice to master. That's why simple recipes that require little time or few ingredients but still taste great are so appealing. Pizza Hut captured that perfectly with its now discontinued Hershey's Chocolate Dunkers, a simple dessert you can make at home in just a few minutes using canned dough and chocolate chips.

Hershey's Chocolate Dunkers were made with a pizza dough base. You could make the dough from scratch, but if you want a version that's faster, a can of Pillsbury Classic Pizza Crust works great. Deeply score the dough without going all the way through so that it's easy to pull apart into sticks later, then bake according to package directions until golden. So, how does this become a dessert?

Chocolate chips are the main topping for your copycat Chocolate Dunkers. Pizza Hut's version had two kinds of chocolate, and some dupe recipes use both semi-sweet and white chocolate chips. You could use those or try dark chocolate, milk chocolate, peanut butter chips, or another kind that melts well. There are many chocolate chip brands to try, and some offer a lot of variety. Mini chips are best because they melt more easily, but you can give full-sized chips a rough chop to get them down to size.

Dig into your Dunkers

For the fastest version of the recipe, sprinkle your mixed chocolate chips on the dough when it's hot and fresh from the oven. Let the treat rest briefly so the chips melt and stick into place. To help them better adhere, sprinkle half of the semi-sweet chocolates over the warm dough, wait for them to melt, and then use a spatula to spread out the melted chocolate. Sprinkle the rest of the chips on top and put the treat under the broiler just long enough for chocolate chips to soften and white chips to turn golden.

These treats are called Hershey's Chocolate Dunkers because you they were meant to be dunked in chocolate sauce before eating. While you wait for the treat to cool down enough to handle, fill a small bowl with some Hershey's chocolate syrup, or make your own dip using a recipe like our simple hot fudge sauce. Then you can pull off pieces, dip, and enjoy.

There are plenty of ways to shake up this recipe because it's so simple. You can even customize the toppings for different holidays and occasions. You could use mint chocolate chips or chopped peppermint Hershey's Kisses to make this a Christmas-themed dessert. Colored candy melts can be mixed with white chocolate chips to match other holiday themes, too. Choose pink or red ones for Valentine's Day, green for St. Patrick's Day, or yellow and purple for Easter.
