Constantly rotating Aldi Finds can make the middle aisle tempting, but this October, a new arrival lands in the refrigerated section instead. Starting October 14, Aldi is introducing two new Park Street Deli Chicken Salad flavors: Apple Cheddar Chipotle and Apricot Dill. Both are cool-weather twists on a familiar deli staple, and they'll be priced at $5.49 upon arrival. These two newbies easily made Tasting Table's "must have" list of Aldi Finds hitting shelves in October 2016.

Of the two flavors marching into Aldi stores, Apricot Dill takes chicken salad down a decidedly sweet-and-savory path to your table. As noted in our preview reveal, the apricot sweetness and the fresh, herbal character of the dill infuse the creamy salad with a fruitier persona, jazzing up the idea of classic chicken salad.

The Apple Cheddar Chipotle option provides a completely different combination, pairing apple and cheddar with chipotle for a potential flavor wheel spanning sweet, savory, cheesy, and smoky. Because the products haven't yet reached Aldi stores, the company hasn't provided many additional details about the ingredients or specific flavor balances. But based on previous chicken salad combos in the Park Street Deli line, the debut of these two arrivals is something to keep an eye on.

Park Street Deli already has a strong chicken salad track record

The new varieties join previous and current Park Street Deli's offerings, including an anchor blend called the Classic Chicken Salad. That one is available on an ongoing basis and features a simple blend of white-meat chicken and a creamy mayonnaise-based dressing. In a Tasting Table ranking of store-bought chicken salads, it finished in a respectable second place, earning praise for the plentiful chunks of chicken, creamy texture, gentle tang, and onion flavor.

The brand's Cranberry Almond Chicken Salad likewise earned positive attention. A Tasting Table "buy or avoid" review of Aldi prepared foods slid the Cranberry Almond version firmly into the "buy" category. The reviewer doled out praise for the combination of crunchy almonds and celery, plus the slightly chewy sweet-tart cranberries adding texture to the shredded chicken, calling it a convenient option for an easy meal or casual entertaining. However, not all Aldi customers have full fondness for the Cranberry Almond version, with some Redditors commenting that it's "way too sweet."

Finally, a broader Tasting Table review of Aldi deli salads showed preference for the Classic Chicken Salad above other Park Street Deli chicken salad options, describing it as balanced and creamy without being overwhelmed by mayonnaise. The Cranberry Almond version ranked just behind it, while a Bacon Ranch variation proved saltier and more divisive. Both come in the usual 16-ounce containers but also in a handy four-pack of three-ounce mini-cups.
