When Burger King says you can "Have It Your Way," they really mean it. Just take a look at the plentiful selection of secret menu items at Burger King, and you'll see a wide range of customization options. And if you look beyond the U.S. menu, international locations have even more inspiration. Case in point: Burger King Germany's Whopper-Style Fries. These hearty spuds were featured as part of Burger King Germany's 50th-anniversary celebration in 2026.

What's in the Whopper-Style Fries? It's all in the name. You basically get the flavor profile of a Whopper (minus the meat) on top of the chain's signature fries. According to Burger King's Germany menu, they come with "Whopper-style sauce, pickles, crispy onions, and ketchup." The pickles bring the tang you'd get from biting into a Whopper, while the crispy onions add another layer of crunch beyond the fries themselves. The ketchup and the mayo coat the fries, so you get that Whopper flavor in every bite.

The idea isn't too far from In-N-Out's Animal Style Fries. You take a basic order of fries and pile on the burger-inspired sauces and toppings. You won't find Whopper-Style Fries on U.S. menus, but that doesn't mean you can't borrow the idea and build your own version with a side of fries and a few Burger King toppings.

How to get Whopper-Style Fries in the US

So, how can you order Germany's Whopper-Style Fries in the U.S.? It's easier than you may think, but you'll need to order in person since the app won't let you request all the necessary ingredients. Start with Burger King's French fries in your preferred size. To top off your German-inspired creation, ask if you can get a side of Whopper toppings, which includes mayonnaise, ketchup, and pickles.

Mix the mayo and ketchup to recreate the signature Whopper sauce before drizzling it over the fries, then add the pickles, which you can leave whole or cut into smaller pieces. As for the crispy onions, this one's a bit trickier, since availability can vary depending on what's currently on the menu. Right now, BK has limited-time Game Day Inspired menu items like the Game Day Pretzel Burger that comes topped with crispy onions. You may be able to score some if you ask nicely.

To take your Whopper-Style Fries to the next level, you can even add the burger's signature beef patty on top. You'll want to ask the cashier for an à la carte Whopper beef patty, which can run you about $1.50 each, depending on location. Keep in mind, though, some customers haven't been able to order à la carte versions and had to pay for the full Whopper instead. Either way, once it's all piled together, you've got a pretty convincing taste of Burger King Germany without booking a flight.
