There is a wealth of frozen dinner options in the freezer aisle to aid with busy nights when you just don't have time to cook a meal from scratch. In our taste test of frozen dinner brands, we ranked Michelina's higher than popular brands like Stouffer's and Hungry Man. Michelina's also has one of the most diverse dinner lineups. However, in our ranking of the best Michelina's frozen meals according to flavor and texture, our taster liked the Beef and Peppers meal the most. It features beef patty crumbles and bell peppers in a bell pepper sauce over a bed of white rice.

Where many of the competitors our taster tried were tasteless, this frozen dinner was bursting with flavor and veggies, making it as balanced as it was tasty. The vegetable-forward sauce had a salty and acidic flavor, while the chunks of peppers were tender and aromatic. However, the star of the show is the seasoned beef patty crumbles, which provide an umami-richness to round out the flavor profile. The rice may be a little soggy, but the sauce, crumbles, and veggies do the heavy lifting to ensure that the texture of this dinner is on par with its flavor. It's hard to expect homemade-quality meals with frozen dinners, and Michelina's is no exception. But for the ultra-cheap price tag and premade convenience, the beef and pepper dinner is worth a spot in your freezer for those busy nights.

Customer reviews for Michelina's Beef and Peppers frozen meal

In their Walmart reviews, customers were complimentary of the flavor and texture of Michelina's Beef and Peppers meal and enjoyed the fact that it's not too spicy. Customers also praised the soft and tender texture of the peppers and rice. One customer recommended bringing out the flavors of the pepper and meat even more by adding a pinch of salt. A Redditor complimented its aroma and underlying flavors. "The celery kind of set it off nicely," they said.

A TikTok review gave it an eight out of 10, stating, "it looks good, it smells good ... good flavor [and] good texture." The reviewer did detract points for the larger ratio of rice to burger and peppers. However, the review states you get what you pay for, as Michelina's probably skimps on the protein and veggies to keep the cost so low. To that effect, many negative reviews via Google state that the dinner barely has beef or peppers and is all rice. Various other reviewers complained that what little beef there is tastes bland. Of course, if you're hungry for a larger portion size, one Redditor posted,  "just buy 2, at those prices it's a deal." You can also bring more heft to the meal by microwaving frozen vegetables alongside it or serving the rice and beef with a side salad. We recommend buying a salad kit, like one from Good & Gather, for effortless preparation.
