If a sweet treat is one of your favorite parts of rolling through a fast food joint, you might wonder which ones are the healthiest. If you're looking for the healthier option when it comes to a classic soft serve cone at either Burger King or Dairy Queen, Burger King is your best bet. Burger King's classic soft serve is vanilla-flavored and comes on a classic waffle-print cone, much like Dairy Queen's.

Burger King places the treat at 200 calories with 22 grams of sugar and 33 grams of carbohydrates. Meanwhile, Dairy Queen's standard vanilla cone comes in at 220 calories with 26 grams of sugar and 34 grams of carbohydrates. The difference between the two isn't huge, but it's just enough to put Burger King's classic soft serve cone in the lead in terms of health value, sort of like how Burger King serves a healthier cheeseburger, too. That said, both cones can technically fit into a healthy diet if consumed in moderation, and people with certain dietary needs will likely want to decide which cone is healthier based on their personal needs.

Burger King's classic soft serve cone wins on other ways

Even though Burger King's classic soft serve cone is technically healthier than Dairy Queen's, neither contains any fiber, which is an important part of a balanced diet. Also, while Dairy Queen's soft serve cone, with its iconic swirl, has 6 grams of protein compared to Burger King's 5, it falls behind when it comes to cholesterol (25 grams versus Burger King's 20 grams). Generally, this type of ice cream is lower in milk fat compared to the regular kind –  that's why soft serve is smooth – but Burger King's classic soft serve cone beats Dairy Queen again by containing 5 grams of fat, compared to 7 grams.

Burger King's classic soft serve cone was introduced in 2007 under the name "Crown Cone," but only ever came in one size, with no options to size up or down. Dairy Queen's vanilla cone can be sized down to a kids size, which drops the calories, sugar, and carbs to 160, 18 grams, and 25 grams, respectively. Customers can also size up with Dairy Queen's soft serve to a medium or a large, which of course will come with even more calories, sugar, carbs, fats, and sodium than the others. When it comes to the ice cream cones, Burger King and Dairy Queen's contain the same ingredients, so it's not clear which is healthier. You can, however, draw a conclusion after you compare the overall numbers, where Burger King comes out on top.
