Would you like to add a little extra oomph to your McDonald's Snack Wrap the next time you give it a bite? Why not upgrade and order it the way they serve it in France? To achieve an Americanized version of The New York McWrap & Chicken Bacon, first order a basic snack wrap — either the ranch or spicy version. Then remove the sauce and add extra cheese to fill in for the melted cheese used on the French version. Also slap on some bacon and tomato slices. Voila — a very close replica of an international McDonald's menu item.

It's worth noting that doing this will result in a slight upcharge. Adding bacon to your snack wrap will cost you an extra $1.89 for two half-strips, and some tomato will tack on 49 cents to the tab. And if you want that extra cheese, budget 30 cents more; the total will be roughly $5.67 versus $2.99. (Prices were taken from a Rhode Island location and will vary.)

Naturally, there are some differences between the French and American versions of these wraps, in spite of customer's ability to get very close to the continental sandwich. One difference in particular might trip customers up: the sauce.

Recreating the New York McWrap & Chicken Bacon has one big stumbling block

There might be one stumbling block when it comes to replicating The New York McWrap & Chicken Bacon for an American audience — besides the obvious flavor differences caused by picking a Spicy Snack Wrap versus a Ranch Snack Wrap. It's the French version's signature creamy sauce, which is not an option on the menu stateside. The sauce apparently tastes sweet and has a peppery kick to it. Home cooks have tried to replicate the flavor by mixing together mayonnaise, dried onions or onion powder, honey, mustard or pepper sauce, and black pepper, which is something you may have to do if you want the wrap to taste exactly the same.

But without having to drag out mixing bowls at home, the closest you're going to get to the right flavor would be to use MickeyD's honey mustard and mayonnaise packets and add a sprinkle of pepper to the mix. It won't be a one-for-one perfect match, but you'll still please your taste buds with this fast food snack wrap.
