Whether you're sticking to a gluten-free diet or simply looking for a crunchy snack that isn't fried, rice cakes are a tried-and-true classic. They're so popular that brands and flavors are ever-expanding. We tasted 9 rice cake brands, judging them on taste, texture, and value for the price. While Quaker and Lundberg are some of the most well-known and longstanding brands, the best rice cake brand on the market according to our ranking is Drizzilicious.

Lundberg and Quaker have the classic large rounds in both salty and sweet varieties. The Quaker and Lundberg slightly salted rice cakes are safe classics, but Drizzlicious won for thinking way outside of the box. Instead of typical large rice cakes, Drizzlicious offers bite-sized mini rounds in exciting dessert flavors, finished with decadent frosting drizzle. For our taste test, we tried Drizzlicious cinnamon swirl, Birthday Cake, and Cookies & Cream. These rice cakes offered a great crunch in a manageable, bite-sized form that we couldn't stop popping into our mouths. Plus, the rice cakes aren't just made with rice flour. They also include other grains and seeds like tapioca, corn, quinoa, chia, and flax, which contribute to flavor depth and texture. The creamy icing on top is the perfect contrast to the crunchy rice cake, bringing these snacks into a dessert realm that makes them stand out from competitors.

Customer reviews for Drizzlicious rice cakes

Customers couldn't say enough great things about Drizzlicious rice cakes. Most said they are so good it was hard not to polish off an entire bag in one sitting. One Amazon review proclaims, "They taste really good[,] like a light sweet snack without feeling overly heavy."

Another Amazon customer wrote, "The size of them are perfect to where you don't feel like you're taking a big bite of Styrofoam, like a lot of rice cakes do." Customers couldn't decide on which flavor is their favorite, instead recommending you buy variety packs.

Complement these low-calorie snacks with a glass of ice-cold dairy or soy milk for added protein and a cooling, creamy taste. You could also crush and sprinkle them over your favorite frozen yogurt brand, whether it be Yasso, Noosa, or something else.

Consider supplementing these dessert snacks with a tried-and-true salted rice cake for added versatility. In this case, Trader Joe's brown rice cakes beat both Quaker and Lindberg's salty varieties, according to our taste test.
