The Strict Seasoning Rule Burger King Employees Can't Break (And You've Probably Noticed)
Burger King employees have strict rules they must follow when it comes to preparing food and serving guests, and one of the most important rules involves the chain's signature French fries. Burger King employees say that the amount of salt they put on the French fries is closely regulated, right down to the use of pre-portioned salt shakers.
On Reddit, Burger King workers say they use a salt shaker that dispenses a premeasured amount of salt during fry preparation. The amount of salt is an important part of the fries' nutritional information, so employees can't just use their discretion when salting. However, sometimes fries might go unsalted if employees begin closing procedures early and stop salting.
On the other hand, employees might oversalt due to the aforementioned salt dispenser, with a Burger King employee on Reddit explaining, "If it is not cleaned daily it gets clogged and dispenses less and less. The crew then doubles it to get the salt out. When it does get cleaned and the crew is used to double salting, you get way too salty fries. Or two crew members might have salted the same batch."
How to order perfect Burger King fries every time
Interestingly, despite the closely monitored amount of salt that's supposed to go on Burger King fries, inconsistency across Burger King's fries is a somewhat common complaint. For example, on Reddit, some BK fans complain that they regularly receive fries with little to no salt, while others say they have been disgusted by BK fries swimming in salt. One Redditor comments: "Most of the time when I get BK fries, they're soggy and DROWNED in salt" and another agreeing, "For real, sometimes you get fries with so much salt there's like leftover salt at the bottom of the bag."
Many Burger King lovers agree that the quality of your meal will come down to not only your BK location but also the crew members working at the time. Some people confess to driving another location clear on the other side of town just to ensure that their order will be perfect. But, if you've suffered from oversalted or undersalted BK fries, you don't have to drive all the way across town just to get hot, perfectly salted fries.
Instead, try this simple ordering trick: Ask for unsalted fries. Then ask for salt packets and salt as much or as little as you desire. The salt packets are free, and you can evenly distribute the salt by asking for an empty cup and shaking it to combine your fries and salt, or by using the bag your order came in. And if your fries are not up to par, reach out to the location and/or call the number on your receipt or submit a complaint directly on the BK app.
