If You Love Seafood, Head To Outback Steakhouse's Underrated Sister Chain

These days, several restaurant chains are owned by the same companies. Chili's, for example, is owned by Brinker International, which also owns Maggiano's Little Italy. Yum! Brands also owns popular chains like KFC and Taco Bell, along with Habit Burger & Grill. But if you're partial to seafood restaurants, you'll want to visit one of Outback Steakhouse's sister restaurants, Bonefish Grill.

That's right: Bonefish Grill and Outback Steakhouse are owned by the same company, Bloomin' Brands. The international food giant opened its first Outback Steakhouse in 1988 and has since expanded to four major chain restaurants for meat lovers, including Carrabba's Italian Grill and Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. Bloomin' Brands acquired Bonefish Grill in 2001 and now has about 157 locations across the country. While Outback and Bonefish offer some similar menu items, the latter's seafood truly does stand out.

You'll find all sorts of popular menu items at Bonefish. Get appetizers like crispy calamari or spicy Bang Bang shrimp, entrees like flaky grilled Chilean sea bass or bourbon-glazed salmon, or dishes piled with buttery seared scallops or lobster tails. You can also find unique options like authentic crab cakes or sashimi-style tuna. Even non-seafood lovers will find something to eat: Juicy steaks, fluffy mashed potatoes, and seasoned veggies grace the menu. But almost everyone can agree on things like decadent truffle fries, rich mac and cheese, and zesty key lime pie for dessert.

Several customers have had positive experiences at their local Bonefish Grill. Some Google reviewers of the Marysville, Washington location, for example, loved the food and atmosphere. "Had a great group dining experience here! The server was so patient and sweet as we waited for all of our group to arrive. The food was very tasty and had nice plate appeal. We'd go back for Date Night anytime," one said. Another Google reviewer said, "Outback is excellent for its steak but the chowder, salmon filet and salads are fantastic at the Bonefish Grill."

There are some mixed reviews of the seafood chain, too. Some Redditors say the portions are small and that it's slightly overpriced, while others think the one good thing on the menu is the Bang Bang shrimp. However, a lot of the criticism that Bonefish Grill gets is no different from customers' complaints about any chain restaurant, and it overall tends to rank higher than other chains with worse reputations.
