She is a big fan of two-toned kitchens, with a darker color on lower cabinets, and loves pairing Cottage Grove with toasty Castle Cream on upper cabinets or walls. Castle Cream is a warm, creamy white that fluctuates between beige and gray as the sun rises and sets. She noted that two-toned kitchens can help to make a small kitchen feel more expansive.

Mix in other earthy colors and natural materials to continue the soothing feeling of bringing the outdoors in. With warm notes from Castle Cream, reach for equally warm wood tones for the floor, shelving, doors, or window frames. Of course, adding wood can be a pricey endeavor that's not always renter-friendly, so you can also reach for wooden bowls, natural clay vessels, and even wooden knobs and drawer pulls.
