David Chang's Fuku Welcomes Summer With Free Chicken, Slushy Happy Hours

If you want to get a taste of David Chang's chicken sandwiches at Fuku, summer looks like the time to do it. The fast-casual chain has just put out a press release announcing a free chicken sandwich giveaway and offering discount slushies at happy hour.

Growing out of Chang's Momofuku empire, Fuku launched in 2015 as a standalone chicken sandwich shop hawking what was once a secret menu item at Chang's first restaurant. It has since grown to multiple New York City locations and over a dozen nationwide on the back of the chef's Asian-American fusion flavors and the country's ongoing love affair with fried chicken sandwiches. Now, Fuku plans to celebrate summer with multiple big-time promotions.

In honor of National Fried Chicken Day, Fuku will be giving out free O.G. Spicy Chicken Sandos on Thursday July 6 at 11 in the morning. The event is limited to New York locations in Rockefeller Center and Hudson Yards and is exclusive to the first 100 customers to show up. For the second deal, the fast-casual joint will launch a slushy happy hour that runs through summer until September 1, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Customers will get 50% off all slushies purchased in store.

Fuku has a whole host of summer deals

Those able to grab one of Fuku's free chicken sandwiches better be able to handle some heat, as the O.G. Spicy Chicken Sando features a habanero-brined chicken breast, topped with pickles and Fuku mayo to help cut the heat. And if you need a little help with the spice, you can grab its new Lychee Slushy, debuting with the happy hour.

If you can't make it to New York or prefer a little sweet with your heat, Fuku has also announced an extended summer run of its limited-time Sashay Filet Biscuit until September 3. The biscuit sandwich features a habanero-brined thigh, pickles, and a Georgia peach sauce, all served on a cheddar biscuit. It was originally created for Pride Month, with all proceeds benefiting the Hetrick-Martin Institute, a youth organization that serves queer and trans youth, with a focus on youth of color.

And finally, what summer would be complete without a trip to a ballpark? Fuku actually has one of it's biggest presences in stadiums, including locations like Citi Field in New York and Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. And while you can grab a bite of chicken at any of its locations, New York is getting the best deal, as Fuku is offering in-seat delivery at Yankee Stadium on Independence Day.
