David Chang's Fuku Is Debuting A New Spicy Chicken Sandwich For Pride Month
As June approaches and we sashay into Pride Month, David Chang's Fuku announced via press release that it's not only debuting a new chicken sando, but also continuing its support of the Hetrick-Martin Institute (HMI), an organization that has provided support and resources for LGBTQIA+ youth since 1979. Proceeds from the sale of the new Sashay Filet Biscuit during the month of June will be donated to HMI, marking the third year that Fuku has partnered with the organization. The Pride Sandos featured in 2021 and 2022 were stacked high with chicken fingers and topped with ranch and rainbow slaw, but this year's Pride offering is a spicy departure with a southern flourish.
The Sashay Filet Biscuit features a "flaky cheddar Mason Dixie Foods biscuit topped with habanero-brined crispy chicken thigh, sweet Georgia peach sauce and pickles," and it will be available at Fuku starting June 1. Individual sandwiches will cost $6, and they're also available as a combo for $13, served with sweet jalapeño waffle fries, a drink, and a choice of sauce. Fuku guests can also double up with an $18 combo that includes two Sashay Filet Biscuits. The Pride Month biscuit will be available in-store and online, at both Fuku locations at Hudson Yards and Rockefeller Center.
Fuku demonstrates a deep commitment to supporting LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities
In addition to donating proceeds from the sale of the Sashay Filet Biscuit, Fuku's new sando features a biscuit from Mason Dixie Food, which is a woman, LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC-owned business. And Fuku's support of the important work of HMI extends beyond Pride month to include year-round events and career fairs. HMI will be tracking progress toward its fundraising goal of $5,000 from its Fuku partnership during the month of June, and the tracker includes a link for donations for those interested in supporting HMI's efforts.
Axel Aranha, a Fuku team member who benefited from HMI's support and outreach, said, "HMI was my first experience in a safe environment for queer people and Fuku is my first experience in a comfortable, connected, and supportive workplace." If the Sashay Filet Biscuit sounds appealing, don't hesitate; it will only be available during Pride Month, from June 1-June 30, 2023.
