Salt & Straw Announces Return Of 'Berries Berries Berries' Ice Cream Series

Salt & Straw — the bespoke ice creamery that uses the unique ingredients of the Pacific Northwest to create legendary flavors — has announced the return of its "Berries Berries Berries" seasonal flavors: Birthday Cake & Blackberries, Wild-Foraged Berry Slab Pie, and Goat Cheese Marionberry Habanero. This trio of ice cream is joined by two additional flavors, GoNanas Strawberry Caramel Banana Bread and GoNanas Banana Blueberry Crumble, meaning that Salt & Straw scoop shops will now be dishing up five berry-licious options starting on Friday, June 30.

Salt & Straw has locations in Portland, Seattle, Northern and Southern California, Miami, and Las Vegas. But don't worry, if you don't live near a scoop shop, you can order any of the ice creamery's options, including these seasonal specialties, from the company's website. To kick off these new additions, you can order off a third-party delivery website on July 16, National Ice Cream Day, and receive a free pint of the GoNanas Banana Blueberry Crumble. All five flavors will only be available for the month of July.

Five berry delicious flavors

The "Berries Berries Berries" series has made summer appearances for several years, and the three returning fan favorites are loaded with local flavors. Birthday Cake & Blackberries riffs on a traditional birthday cake ice cream by adding blackberry jam from Oregon Hill Farms along with rainbow sprinkles.

Wild-Foraged Berry Slab Pie is reminiscent of ordering pie a la mode and is brought to life with berries picked from the slopes of Washington's Mt. Baker. Goat Cheese Marionberry Habanero combines creamy goat cheese with a jam made of habaneros and marionberries, a local berry developed not far from Salt & Straw's Portland scoop shops and named for Marion County, Oregon.

Tyler Malek, co-founder and unique flavor creator behind Salt & Straw's menu, came up with the addition of GoNanas Strawberry Caramel Banana Bread and GoNanas Banana Blueberry Crumble. The former uses a salted caramel banana bread that is mixed into banana caramel ice cream and strawberry jam, while the latter incorporates blueberry muffins and banana bread into a coconut ice cream along with Meyer lemons and blueberry jam. Both are vegan and allergy-friendly and rely on delicious banana bread from Chicago-based start-up GoNanas.
