Cheez-It's Retro Pit Stop Will Fuel Your Joshua Tree Road Trip
Have you ever wanted to pull off the highway, roll down your window, and have your car filled with snack crackers? If so, you can. For one week this June, you have the opportunity to visit the Cheez-It Stop in Joshua Tree — one of the snackiest roadside attractions in the U.S, per a press release.
It looks similar to a gas station, but you won't find any fuel for cars here. Instead, you'll pull up to the pump to fill the inside of your car with bags of Cheez-Its at no cost. This is the world's first Cheez-It pump, and it not only can fill up your car and stomach with these snacks, but the interior of the outpost will have unique displays and visuals, specialty Cheez-It flavors, and merchandise that is exclusive to the Cheez-It Stop. You will know you are getting close once you see the building-height cowboy holding a gas pump with the Cheez-It logo on it.
An immersive Cheez-It experience
The American idea of roadside attractions gained popularity largely after World War II. While this Cheez-It Stop has a distinctly vintage vibe, a highway attraction has never hit this level of cheesiness. Visitors are encouraged to hit the free Cheez-It pump but also to come inside and shop the aisles, as well as take photos with the designed-for-Instagram displays.
"We created this brand-first desert outpost to capture the excitement of summer road trips and encourage fans who Want It. Need It. Cheez-It. to fuel up throughout their adventures," states Erin Storm, brand senior director for Cheez-It. The Cheez-It Stop will be open for visitors from June 5-11, during the hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. PST. You can find it in the California desert at 61943 Twentynine Palms Highway in Joshua Tree, just a few hours from Los Angeles. And if you find that you've stocked up on too many of these cheesy crackers, be sure to bring some home to cook with.
