Where To Eat In Houston For Super Bowl Weekend

Extra points all around

If you're one of the thousands of fans heading to Houston to watch the New England Patriots take on the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl 51, you're probably eager to experience the city's highly regarded food scene in the days leading up to the game.

Here are the nine top places to eat, drink and enjoy those Gulf breezes in H-Town this weekend.

① Crawfish & Noodles

We have Dave Chang to thank for this suggestion. He recently raved about the fare at this Vietnamese crawfish restaurant.

② The Pastry War

Drink like the locals at this mescal bar, where you can sip specialty cocktails and pours from an extensive mescal and tequila list in a cozy, casual space. Spoiler alert: There are no pastries.

③ One Fifth Steak

The first iteration of Chris Shepherd's new rotating-restaurant concept in a historic Montrose building is this modern steakhouse. The seasonal menu includes indulgent, hearty dishes like lamb Wellington and 100-day-aged hanger steak.

④ Pho Binh

After hitting the bars, you're going to want late-night sustenance. Look no further than this Vietnamese spot, open until midnight on weekdays and 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

⑤ Helen Greek Food and Wine

If you find yourself craving grilled octopus and gyros, this modern Greek destination with a breezy patio is sure to satisfy those hankerings.

⑥ Common Bond Cafe & Bakery

The brunch game is unstoppable at this Montrose hangout offering pastries, juices and regionally accented riffs on American favorites, such as an epic croque madame with jalapeño-infused béchamel.

⑦ Killen's Barbecue

Barbecue passions run deep in Texas, and you can certainly taste it in the brisket and beef ribs at Killen's, a legendary barbecue joint just beyond city limits.

⑧ Kolache Factory

This local chain specializes in kolache, a beloved regional specialty with roots in the area's Czech immigrant community. Akin to a filled doughnut, kolaches can be sweet or savory (but are always satisfying).

⑨ Buffalo Bayou Park

After you've stuffed yourself with pastries, cocktails and Texas barbecue, walk it off around this 160-acre park, which received a $58 million renovation in 2015.
