"We need to take the 'oughts' and 'shoulds' out of the wine experience!" Lee Campbell, wine director for Andrew Tarlow's Brooklyn restaurant group (Reynard, Diner, Marlow & Sons), says.
That's not what we expected to hear from Campbell, a woman known for her strong opinions and her unabashed (and sometimes controversial) promotion of natural wines.
But sit down with Campbell and ask her about drinking wine—and really enjoying it—and you'll realize why she's one of the best in the business: "Wine should bring joy," she insists. "Otherwise, we might as well be drinking water."
That's why we called on Campbell to curate Tasting Table's Summer Wine Cellar, which she's stocked with plenty of high-acid whites, bubbly rosés and low-tannin reds that are perfect for sipping during the dog days.
Most importantly, though, they're all downright delicious.
