Making a White Russian is simple but ritualistic. Some people prefer to mix the alcohol together and float the cream on top; we prefer the milk-shake-like effect of the shaken version. Whole, soy or nut milk are acceptable alternatives if heavy cream isn't an option.

A three-ingredient cocktail that never goes out of style

Yield: 1 cocktail


2 ounces vodka

1 ounce Kahlúa

1 ounce heavy cream



In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, Kahlúa and heavy cream. Fill with ice and shake vigorously until chilled. Strain into a chilled old-fashioned glass.
