Not Roast Beef Or Turkey: This Is Dietz & Watson's Best Deli Meat, Hands Down
Dietz & Watson's deli meats encompass a broad range of different proteins, from classic preparations to unique seasoning combinations. We tasted 16 different Dietz & Watson's deli meats to find the best one and ranked each deli meat according to overall taste, how well the meat delivers on its advertised flavors, moisture, texture, and versatility.
Instead of classic choices like roast beef or turkey, the best deli meat, hands down, is the more unusual Rosemary Seasoned Ham. Ham may be a common deli meat, but the rosemary seasoning made it stand out from other varieties of ham and all the other deli meats we tasted. It gave a robust earthiness that complemented the ham's natural savory notes.
Rosemary isn't a flavor that you see everyday with deli-style ham, but it works well and doesn't limit this product's versatility. On the contrary, it opens the door to all sorts of different condiments, cheeses, and veggies. In addition to taste and versatility, we were also impressed with the mouthfeel of the rosemary seasoned ham. It was more substantial than turkey and chicken, yet was still delicately sliced. In fact, the closest poultry meat in our ranking was turkey, which came in fourth place. Pork products took the top three spots, but the other pork products needed ingredient pairings with other meat in a sandwich whereas the rosemary seasoned ham is flavorful and exciting enough to be the sole star of the show.
Customer reviews for Rosemary Seasoned Ham
Customers at the grocery store Randall's left many five-star reviews for Dietz & Watson's Rosemary Seasoned Ham. First and foremost, they enjoyed the flavor with one customer describing it as "a prominent rosemary flavor." Other customers were wowed by such a unique flavor. As one customer put it, "never had anything remotely like this before. I must say I was very pleasantly surprised and did enjoy the flavoring." The texture was also a source of praise as one review says, it was "sliced perfectly thin...to make a delicious sandwich." It'd pair well with gruyere or white cheddar cheese in a pressed panini.
People like the Rosemary Seasoned Ham so much, there weren't too many negative reviews. At worst, a Randall's customer called the ham a middle-of-the-road deli meat. "Not bad, not good, just in-between," they wrote.
That said, a lot of customers are fans of the brand's turkey. In fact, Dietz & Watson's turkey ranked number one in a tasting of 11 packaged deli turkey brands. Based on the delicious rosemary ham and how well the turkey fared in a separate ranking, Dietz & Watson's deli meat is a solid choice, no matter which type of meat you're in the mood for.
