The Best Snyder's Pretzels On Store Shelves Aren't The Honey Mustard Or Jalapeño Pieces

While newer brands have been popping up over the past decade, Snyder's pretzels are a longstanding pretzel brand known for reliable classics. However, it's also kept up with the times by offering a diverse line of flavors and forms. We tried 13 different Snyder's pretzels, ranking them according to texture, pretzel-to-salt ratio, and overall flavor for the flavored options. And while Honey Mustard & Onion Pretzel Pieces and Jalapeño Pretzel Pieces were our 3rd and 2nd place rankings, respectively, they didn't compare to our winning variety: Snyder's Thins Pretzels.
Both our second and third place flavors were pronounced and well balanced, but the jalapeño flavor beat honey mustard and onion on strength of flavor. However, what we disliked about both of these flavors is their form. Snyder's pieces are essentially large pretzel crumbs, but much of the bag ends up being flavored dust. Half the fun of pretzels for many is their form and delightfully crispy crunch, which the pieces all but sabotage. The Thins pretzel, on the other hand, ticked all of our criteria boxes. They're delicately thin, with an equally delicate yet satisfying crunch. Shaped in the classic pretzel twist, they are fun to pop whole into your mouth or snap apart section by section. While other thicker pretzels were covered in coarse salt, these Thins had a very sparse sprinkling, which happened to be the perfect ratio to highlight the yeasty, malty pretzel taste we're looking for. Snyder's Thins were elegant and sophisticated snacks that easily beat out the larger pieces.
Customer reviews for Thins Pretzels
Five-star reviews abound for Snyder's Thins pretzels on Instacart. One review describes them as "salty, fresh and crunchy." Customers were smitten with their thinness. "I love how easy they are to snack on because of their size," says a review. To that effect, another review said they were the perfect size for "people with sensitive teeth." Where shatteringly crunchy thick pretzels or pretzel pieces might be sharp on the gums, these Thins break down easily while still providing a satisfying crunch you want in a pretzel. Yet another review praised their salt ratio, stating, "The salt is present just like I expect from any good pretzel, but it wasn't overwhelming, it was just enough to add a little salty touch."
It was hard to find a negative review about these Thins pretzels, and the only 4- or 3-star reviews on Instacart complained more about their fragility. While some customers said they would break apart when transported alongside sandwiches in lunch boxes, others said they maintained their integrity perfectly. You can thus use them instead of crackers for all types of dips and spreads.
Enjoy these pretzels with your favorite brand of hummus, flavor of Boursin cheese, peanut butter, or cheese dip. Add them to homemade trail mix alongside nuts, dried fruit, peanut butter chips, and Cheez-Its. You can also take them in a sweet direction by using them as dainty garnishes for a peanut butter pie or drizzling them with melted chocolate.
