6 Fall 2026 Items From Costco, Ranked Worst To Best
Autumn is upon us; ah, what a glorious time of year. I enjoy the cooler temps and cozy moments, which I don't get to experience often in Southern California. While it doesn't really feel like fall yet (at least where I'm based), the season has technically shifted from summer. You can see that particularly on the shelves of stores like Costco, where decorative pillows featuring a cat in a witch's hat and piles of pumpkins are displayed front-and-center. I wanted to get in the seasonal mood by purchasing some decidedly fall-esque items from the warehouse, not just random October finds.
I selected items that were clearly fall-adjacent or were listed on the What's New or Food for Fall sections of the website at the time of writing. However, it's worth noting that I skipped most fall desserts, as they were covered in another review. My taste-test includes savory and sweet picks, and I ultimately ranked these by flavor execution and how well any flavors, ingredients, and elements worked or didn't. I also factored in mass appeal, since I didn't want to base it solely on my personal tastes, as well as the product's autumn-ness (in terms of flavor and presentation). There are some fantastic picks here; however, I deem the top one the most approachable, tasty, and perfectly seasonal.
6. Bolder Foods Loaded Baked Potato Soup
I love a baked potato soup; it should be hearty, comforting, and thick with an appropriate richness. However, the Bolder Foods doesn't hit the mark. For one, it's pretty liquidy, whereas I expect this kind of soup to be pretty viscous. It looked quite set and thick in the container when refrigerated. But after I heated it up, it turned into a watery soup without the richness I really crave. There were potato chunks and the occasional hefty piece of bacon to offer something to chew on.
It has a good cheesy, savory flavor, but it isn't as well-rounded or intense as some of the other options I tried. It's a decent option for feeding yourself or the family without having to make it from scratch, but I wouldn't feel compelled to purchase this soup again. As it stands, it's not the most impressive. And for those who love baked potato soup, Bolder Foods Loaded Baked Potato Soup might not be as appealing, so overall customer appeal may be lower.
This gets last place because the flavors themselves aren't super drool-worthy, and I wasn't a big fan of the texture. I'd opt for a different cozy Costco prepared meal instead; the meatloaf and chili are surprisingly good.
5. Noosa Whole Milk Yoghurt Variety Pack
I'm a big yogurt fiend. I typically like plain just so I can enhance it as desired, whether sweet or savory. Of course, this Noosa Whole Milk Yoghurt Variety Pack, which comes with 12, 4-ounce cups, is a fun spin on yogurt, with apple pie, salted caramel, and vanilla bean as the seasonal flavor trio. The flavors come in the form of a little pile at the bottom of the yogurt cup, so you can mix them in if you prefer.
The apple is delightfully autumnal, with a spiced apple flavor and a creamy yogurt base that make it taste more like a dessert than a morning cup of yogurt. On the one hand, I can see this variety pack being enticing to various age groups, but on the other hand, it's limiting. Someone might reach for the vanilla bean and avoid the apple pie altogether, or any number of scenarios therein.
Noosa could have leaned further into fall with heavily autumnal flavors like pumpkin, pumpkin spice, cranberry spice, carrot cake, or something like that. Salted caramel could pass as fall-ish, but it could be an anytime flavor, too. Vanilla bean, however, is regular schmegular flavor. The three options are enjoyable, but they don't make this as fall-like as it could be and hold it back. I also think the sugar content (17 or 18 grams, depending on the flavor) keeps it from being more approachable, although I didn't use that as my methodological criterion.
4. Kirkland Signature Pumpkin Bar Cake
The Kirkland Signature Pumpkin Bar Cake is a must-try for any pumpkin lovers out there. It includes pumpkin sponge cake so moist it could be tres leches (but without the liquid the cake is known for). There's a smidge of pumpkin mousse and a generous amount of whipped cream; the whipped cream provides an oily mouthfeel I'm not fond of, but it adds appropriate richness. The pumpkin mousse is fantastic, and I wish there were more of it on the cake. I found myself really enjoying the bites that included it.
After a few initial nibbles thinking about how divine the cake was, I found myself dissecting it — eating the layer of cake and the smidge of mousse, leaving the seemingly excessive oily whipped cream remnants aside. It lost some charm after the initial intrigue wore off. Still, this is a good cake with an appealing pumpkin-spiced flavor that evokes a cozy fall day. The flavors are pleasant, and I reckon plenty of people would like them, particularly those fond of pumpkin spice. If you tend to critique baked goods, though, you may not enjoy the whipped cream layers. I definitely agree with other customers that cream cheese frosting or some cream cheese element would have been a better move for Costco.
3. Nuovo Pasta Pumpkin & Bats Ravioli
I think the two-pack of Nuovo Pasta Pumpkin & Bats Ravioli is frightfully festive, which gives it an advantage over the lower-ranking picks didn't have. Rather than a bland cheese base, these are somewhat complex, with multiple fromages — ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, and aged Asiago. I could taste this dimension from the first bite. It was rich, savory, creamy, and hints of nuttiness. The pasta base is well-made and structurally sound; you likely won't have much spilling or breaking unless you're rough or they're incredibly stuck together.
They are cute and tasty, and that's just about everything I was looking for. As an adult, I love these, but they are fun for my kids, too. The colors are vibrant and stay just as bright after cooking. I absolutely enjoyed these, and they're made even better by sheer convenience — you can get dinner on the table in under 10 minutes, including waiting for the water to boil. The exterior has no added flavors (only color); it's essentially whimsical cheese ravioli, which makes it incredibly versatile for mealtime. Add tomato sauce or perhaps a cream-based sauce, bulk it up with added protein and veggies, and you're ready to go.
While the flavor itself isn't fall-inspired, the shape and presentation undoubtedly are; the bats and pumpkin shapes are clearly seasonal and appealing. I enjoy these because the flavors are interesting and scrumptious; I think they'd be more universally appreciated than pumpkin cake, earning the pasta third-place.
2. Rana Organic Savory Butternut Squash Ravioli
I tried various Rana pasta products and have to say the Organic Rana Savory Butternut Ravioli is among the best. This Costco product comes with two 1-pound packs of ravioli. It actually has the most abundant filling out of any Rana pasta I tried, which makes it seem heartier and more satisfying. Not just that, but the flavors are excellent. If you served this nicely using various plating techniques, it would look and taste like something from a restaurant.
This recipe uses organic butternut squash, butter, caramelized onion, Parmesan, ricotta, sage, garlic, and tomato, all of which contribute to the well-rounded, complex flavor. At first, it's creamy and sweet because of the caramelized onion and various dairy products, but then they transformed as I chewed. The butternut squash brings earthiness and sweetness, and the various seasonings and tomato just make everything well-rounded and taste so good that you can't wait to get another piece.
It is indeed delicious alone (which is how I judged it for this ranking), but I also made a brown butter sage sauce and added chopped spinach for added flavor, color, and nutrients; it really hit the spot. You can approach this pasta in a number of ways, which adds to the appeal. The flavor is wonderful and the presentation is certainly autumnal, thanks to its shade of orange. I think the taste itself is more dynamic (and fall-esque) than Nuovo Pasta's, giving it a higher ranking.
1. Russet House Straight Cut Sweet Potato Fries
As a busy mom of two small children, I value convenience. This hefty 5-pound bag of Russet House Straight Cut Sweet Potato Fries may seem unassuming (if not a bit boring compared to bat-shaped ravioli and pumpkin mousse), but it is fantastic. The fries are ready to cook and vary slightly in length. Some are quite long, which makes them both enjoyable and entertaining to snap or eat, while others are much shorter. I followed the air fryer instructions, and they cooked up like a dream. These fries are perfect to keep on hand for meals when you want to spare yourself from washing spuds, monotonous chopping, and scrubbing dishes.
They cook up in under 20 minutes, allowing you to focus on other elements of your meal or, better yet, just relax and soak in the moment. They taste straightforward: like sweet potatoes. They have a sweet, starchy quality but a crisp exterior that makes them really scrumptious — just make sure to cook them in an even layer. They're coated in cornstarch and rice flour, which gives them an appealing crisp exterior. I loved these and would totally repurchase them. My family will finish the large bag in record time, as they work well with anything from burgers to chicken wings. These totally has the potential to be enjoyed by a wide audience, and sweet potato is heavily associated with fall, so it's my top pick.
Methodology
I purchased everything from one Costco store and tried each item the day of purchase to ensure freshness. Items had to be new for fall, from the fall section of the Costco Same Day webpage, or generally associated with fall: pumpkins, bat shapes, sweet potato fries — you get the idea.
Each item varied widely, so I ranked them on several factors. A big consideration was the taste and appearance of the final product. Some items required cooking while others were merely transferred to a plate. I was looking for something that really delivered on its advertised flavors and tasted pleasant. I also wanted something that could be generally appreciated by others, rather than have a niche appreciation. I was also searching for items that were fall-coded and gave the cozy, nice vibes one typically associates with the season. Items were ranked higher when they met these criteria, while lower-ranked picks might have issues with one or more of them.
