The 12 Best Hot Dog Joints Featured On Diners, Drive-Ins, And Dives
Is anything better than the feeling of biting into a crisp, juicy, all-American hot dog in the dog days of summer? Not really (unless you can pair your dog with an iconic American beer). The simple yet endlessly satisfying cuisine is quintessential to American culture. We do have a question for you, though: Where do you go to get your dogs when you don't feel like grilling them up at home?
It's okay if you don't have an answer to (or have never even thought about) the above — we got you. And, to find some of the country's absolute best hot dog spots, we turned to what's probably the most authoritative source on the subject of American comfort food. We're talking, of course, about Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives," which has seen the buoyant personality foraying into many a hot dog joint over the years. The following 12 spots served up some of the best dogs Fieri (and loyal customers) have ever tasted.
Super Duper Weenie
We'll start off hot with a spot that is definitely deserving of its hard-hitting title: Super Duper Weenie in Fairfield, Connecticut. If you ever have the chance to swing by the restaurant, you'll be able to see that its hot dogs are indeed "super duper," and in addition to being massive, they're also reportedly delicious.
At the time of filming, the hot dog shop was selling 2,000 weenies a week — an impressive volume that actually required it to open a storefront rather than staying planted in its initial food truck. Super Duper Weenie's draws from cross-country regional cuisine when crafting its famous dogs (which, notably, get stellar reviews). For example, the "Cincinnatian" piles a dog with Cincinnati-style chili, cheddar cheese, and onion; on the other hand, the "New Englander" (which Guy Fieri enjoyed on the episode) utilizes sauerkraut, bacon, mustard, sweet relish, and chopped onion. Don't feel like digging into any toppings? Don't worry — you can get a plain ol' dog at Super Duper Weenie, too.

Garbo's Grill
Residents of (or visitors to) Key West should feel lucky — after all, in addition to gorgeous coastlines, they have the opportunity to munch on a mouthwatering hot dog from none other than Garbo's Grill, which earned itself a feature on "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives." Surprisingly, though, the spot wasn't even on DDD for its hot dogs. Its Umamiburger and Korean BBQ Taco took center stage, but given the stellar reviews its hot dogs also receive, we'll assume Guy Fieri just didn't have time to squeeze a dog into his tasting.
While Garbo's Grill's burgers were the main feature of the episode, it deserves a spot on this list for its highly acclaimed hot dogs. You'll find four on the menu: a Bacon Wrapped Dog, a Kogi Dog, a Mango Dog, and a Plain Dog. Both the Kogi Dog (which comes with kimchi, sesame mayo, cheese, cabbage, scallions, daikon, citrus soy dressing, and sriracha) and the Mango Dog (which has bacon, mango, sautéed onion, jalapeño, and a Caribbean sauce) get ample praise, and are unique enough to merit a test run the next time you're in the area.

Sea Wolf Tybee
If you're ever able to head into this next hot spot for a dog, you may not even be able to see the actual hot dog under all its toppings — but trust us, it's there! And according to Guy Fieri, a Facebook food influencer, and countless customers, the dogs at Sea Wolf Tybee are indeed worth all the hype they can garner.
The menu at Sea Wolf Tybee can vary, so you may not know exactly what's on offer until you head in (and you can't call in advance — the spot has no telephone!), but you'll definitely have some mouthwatering options to choose from. One 2024 menu offered The Glizzy (a dog piled with wagyu chili, cheddar, and crema), which Fieri had on the show, as well as a Steak Dog: a wagyu dog topped with filet tartare, cured egg yolk, and parsley. That may be the fanciest hot dog we've ever heard of, and we're here for it.

Trina's Starlite Lounge
We don't know about you, but personally, the above has our mouths watering — and at first glance, we don't even know what kind of sauce is on it! We'd dig in without hesitation, because this dog comes from Trina's Starlite Lounge, a Massachusetts institution that made an appearance on "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives" for its non-dog-related offerings.
We think it's a shame that Guy Fieri didn't try Trina's dogs — while we're sure the fried chicken, buttermilk waffles, and aioli-doused tater tots were fantastic, the dogs deserve some attention, too. Not only is the spot recommended for its hot dogs on socials, but they've even garnered a coveted mention on Condé Nast Traveler, particularly the "Hot Dog Tower!" which comes with five dogs, fries, and sauces. Consider this your sign to grab a few pals and indulge in a tower of snappy dogs.

The Wienery
Don't be fooled by the seemingly standard appearance of the dogs above — they're nothing ordinary, and if you're in Minneapolis, you'd be remiss not to stop by The Wienery. Its simple, no-frills moniker harkens back to the spot's old-school method of cutting everything by hand. The result? Dogs, toppings, and fries that promise to knock your socks off.
When Guy Fieri visited The Wienery on "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives," he lost himself in the Italian Combo — technically a "Wiene-wich" with an Italian sausage, roast beef, cheese, and habanero peppers. If you're more of a hot dog purist, the spot has nearly 20 creations on the menu. Some of its more unique options include the Tasmanian Devil — a "hot as you want it" chili dog — and the Upsetter, which comes with bacon, an egg cooked any way, and cheese.

The Brick
The hot dog your order at our next joint may look a little odd, but don't worry — its seemingly unidentifiable coating is the secret to this hot dog's success, and is the reason you should sprint to The Brick if you're anywhere near Kansas City, Missouri. Indeed, it's one of the dishes Guy Fieri indulged in when "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives" featured The Brick.
The above is a bacon-wrapped, beer-battered, deep-fried hot dog. Yeah, we know. Wondering if it's as good as it sounds? Aside from Guy Fieri's endorsement, plenty of Reddit users recommend the dog to locals who haven't yet tried it. If the above doesn't tickle your tastebuds, that's totally fine, and it doesn't mean you should shy away from The Brick; instead, try the Kansas City Reuben (which comes with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, thousand island dressing, and pickles) or the Houston Frito Pie with Fritos, chili, cheese, onions, and pickled jalapeños.

Maui's Dog House
Despite its name, you don't have to travel to Hawaii to get a taste of Maui's Dog House; the New Jersey spot is accessible to many East Coasters. Guy Fieri would say that you can't pass on the spot's "Salty Balls" – its potato offering, but obviously its hot dog menu is full of can't-misses as well.
Maui's Italian Hot dog sees special recommendations on Reddit, and for good reason. Who could possibly complain about a dog loaded with onions, green peppers, potatoes, and garlic all sautéed in white wine, topped with provolone? With over 20 hot dogs to choose from, you can't go wrong. Personally, though, our mouths are watering over the Cardiac, which comes piled high with bacon and "globs and globs of cheddar cheese sauce."

Foothills Grange
A relatively newer entry to the "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives" universe debuted on the show in 2026. Foothills Grange, an eatery in Black Mountain, North Carolina, is by no means a surprising addition to the show — the homey spot is supplied by Foothills Butcher Shop, its sister butchery, and we're more than a little impressed with the farm-to-table approach this spot takes.
Even though you'll only find six dogs on the menu at Foothills Grange, we're pretty sure you'll still have a hard time deciding which to order. A few of the dogs are twists on chili dogs — one with chili and beer cheese; another with chili, coleslaw, yellow mustard, and sweet onion; and the third with just chili, yellow mustard, and sweet onion. If you're feeling a little more adventurous, we'd go for either the Kansas City Dog or the Nacho Dog. The former has pickles, Thousand Island dressing, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese, while the latter has beer cheese, pico de gallo, jalapeños, and sour cream.

Senate Pub
We've already talked about Cincinnati-inspired dogs; now, we're headed to a genuine Cincinnati spot that doesn't even read as a hot dog spot from its name. Yet, Senate Pub deserves ample recognition for its dogs, which locals said in the episode are what the spot is known for.
Gourmet street grub is on full display at Senate Pub, and its seven hot dog options may have you debating what to order for a while (so we recommend checking out the menu before you go in!). There's an ever-changing Hot Dog of the Day that will keep you on your toes. You have your standard Chicago dog and Korean-inspired hot dog, and then there are fanciful creations like the Lindsay Lohan — yes, really — which comes with goat cheese, caramelized onions, bacon, arugula, balsamic, "and tons of drama." On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Trailer Park has bacon, American cheese, coleslaw, and crushed Grippo's chips.

Junkyard Extreme Burgers and Brats
We know that a spot with the word "junkyard" in its name may not sound like the smartest place to dine at, but trust us (and Guy Fieri) on this one. Oregon's Junkyard Extreme Burgers and Brats boasts a wild menu that had Fieri reeling, and even though he didn't have a hot dog on his initial visit (instead opting for a massive burger and a fried cheese pizza), we wouldn't be surprised to see him return to the joint to take its dogs for a spin. After all, Junkyard does get rave reviews.
In addition to having many hot dogs that are similar to offerings we've already talked about, Junkyard Extreme Burgers and Brats has some novel creations. Take its Pizza Dog, for example, comes with pizza sauce, pepperoni, mozzarella, onions, and olives, and its "4 Stroke" even includes grilled pineapple — yum!

Wrigleyville Grill
Chicago transplants who now live in San Antonio are no doubt aware of Wrigleyville Grill, the Chicago-style dog spot that's made waves in the Lone Star State. And it's worth its name — the spot gets all sorts of recommendations on Reddit, and Guy Fieri loved it, too.
Fieri indulged in the Famous Italian Beef, which features a lean hot dog in an Italian roll, no accoutrements necessary. If that sounds too plain for your liking, don't worry — there are plenty of dogs on offer at Wrigleyville Grill. Spice lovers can get a Chicago Dog spiced up with ghost pepper chili sauce, while other purists can get a dog simply loaded with cheddar cheese sauce. Of course, there's also the classic Chili Cheese Dog if you want something that reminds you of childhood summer days spent at the baseball stadium.

Hillbilly Hotdogs
Last but certainly not least is a quirky establishment that we've already mention as the best restaurant to appear on "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives" in West Virginia. Hillbilly Hotdogs is everything a dive-y hot dog joint could every hope to be and more — it even features a 15-inch dog called "The Home Wrecker," which Guy Fieri tried when he visited.
If that sounds a little too big for your appetite, you can also munch on a standard dog — if there is such a thing at Hillbilly Hotdogs. The most standard dog is deep-fried and comes with chili sauce, mustard, and onion; perhaps the wildest is "Chuck's Junk Yard Dog," which comes with "EVERYTHING!!!," or the Egg Dog, which has ketchup, nacho cheese, and a scrambled egg.

Methodology
We chose which spots to feature on this list by vetting every single hot dog establishment that Guy Fieri has visited over the long course of his tenure with "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives." First, obviously, the spot had to still be in operation — unfortunately, this nixed a few places that would have been shoo-ins if they were still running.
We vetted each spot to make sure it was still getting good reviews from patrons, which was especially applicable if a restaurant appeared on the show a while ago. Any restaurant that showed a majority of negative recent comments didn't make the cut, nor did any establishment that we didn't see recommended on socials by locals.
