Walmart has no shortage of candies and chocolates available on its shelves. From the megastore's in-house Bettergoods chocolates and candies to old-school brands like Hershey's and more premium offerings like Lindt, Walmart offers a wealth of options for satisfying one's sweet tooth. But several shoppers are particularly drawn to one classic chocolate candy item the chain sells, namely for its size, quality, and value for the money: Party-Size Peanut M&M's. With more than 27,000 ratings and a near-perfect average rating of 4.8 stars, the 38-ounce bag of chocolate-covered peanut candy shines in Walmart reviews online.

If you've never had the pleasure of eating peanut M&M's, they're crunchy, whole roasted peanuts encased in a thick layer of milk chocolate enveloped by a thin, equally crunchy candy shell coating with the brand's signature "M" printed on it. Reviews on Walmart are overwhelmingly positive for this particular M&M's product, with multiple buyers speaking to its freshness, flavor, and value for the money. As one reviewer put it, the 38-ounce bag of peanut M&M's are the "perfect bulk candy for parties," with another claiming that although they are a "bad indulgence," they still "taste great."

Walmart also carries jumbo varieties of other popular, well-liked candies, but none quite as popular as the peanut M&M's are — many of them have fewer reviews and ever-so-slightly lower average ratings. Walmart's listing for the 18.7-ounce jumbo bag of Fun-Size Snickers Chocolate Bars, for instance, has just over 18,000 ratings that average out at 4.7 stars. Meanwhile, while it features the same 4.8-star average rating that the peanut M&M's do, Walmart's jumbo bag of Hershey's Milk Chocolate Snack-Size Candy has only 2,600 ratings, a mere 5% of which accompany written reviews.

Peanut M&Ms give you more bang for your buck

Such a generous amount of candy may well be dangerous to keep stocked in one's pantry, but it comes in handy for sharing while watching movies, keeping the household snack jar full, or filling up bowls at social gatherings; as one reviewer put it, the 38-ounce bag of peanut M&M's is the "best value of all the sizes offered." The numbers reflect that, too. A standard three-serving bag of peanut M&Ms contains just under 3.3 ounces of candy at 85 cents per ounce, while the party-size bag weighs in at a considerable 38 ounces and costs 39 cents per ounce. Conversely, Snickers' and Hershey's' equivalent jumbo offerings cost between 10 and 15 cents more per ounce than party-size peanut M&M's do.

Several buyers also appreciate that the jumbo bag of peanut M&M's is resealable, which "helps in controlling portions when snacking," per one review. That said, in a separate testimonial, one buyer conceded that in their household, "once [the] bag is open, it's not getting sealed back up until it's at least half empty." Another reviewer suggested that they "ate the entire bag" in one sitting, and another humorously stated that their family had "staged an intervention" over their purchase of the 38oz bag of peanut M&M's.

Another selling point of M&M's that many Walmart reviewers appreciate is their coloring. The coated peanuts come in vibrant shades of yellow, red, orange, green, blue, and dark brown that are visually appealing to kids and adults alike. That said, the jewel-colored candies weren't always jewel-colored. Back when they debuted in 1954, peanut M&M's actually lacked their iconic colorful look — instead, they only came in a singular shade of tan.
