Texas Roadhouse Vs Logan's: Which Chain Has Cheaper Prime Rib?

Just like the cola wars were a very real thing in the '80s, today's steak wars are a real thing occurring between steakhouses across the country. There is a YouTube series devoted to steak wars. And the most literal steak war of them all is, of course, out of Texas. (Because when people think steak, they think Texas.) The 2025 Paris Steak Wars saw 157 competitors across 38 teams competing for their place in the winner's circle.

Another thing people relate to Texas (besides steak) is a roadhouse. It was very obviously an influence for the naming of Texas Roadhouse, America's largest casual-dining chain, and Logan's Roadhouse, another popular American steakhouse. And judging by both establishments' hardwood aesthetics, western decor, and similar menus, it's undeniable that there is a formula to making a great roadhouse. But how about a great steak?

Creating a little steak war of our own, we decided to put these two titans up against each other in the category of prime rib. And if we're looking strictly at price, Texas Roadhouse leaves Logan's in the proverbial dust. The 14-ounce prime rib at Texas Roadhouse is $27.49 (around $1.96 per ounce), while the 13-ounce prime rib at Logan's is $31.99 (around $2.46 per ounce). But perhaps we should look a bit closer at what each roadhouse has to offer with its prime rib before making our final judgment.

It's true what they say; everything is bigger in Texas (Roadhouse)

As far as edible perks go, both Texas Roadhouse and Logan's offer free bread. Logan's invites customers in to enjoy a basket of its fresh-made daily rolls while Texas Roadhouse serves unlimited complimentary rolls when you order a meal. Both stores' prime rib meals come with two sides, so they are pretty evenly matched on that front.

Where the two steakhouses seem to differ the most, other than price, is what they offer when it comes to the prime rib. Texas Roadhouse provides a selection of sizes — 12-, 14-, and 16-ounce portions, to be exact. Logan's only offers a 13-ounce cut. Additionally, it should be mentioned that Texas Roadhouse has prime rib on its daily menu whereas Logan's prime rib is only available on the weekends while supplies last. And in 2026, Logan's seems to be limiting those prime rib weekends to October 31 through February 22. So, even if Logan's had offered a cheaper prime rib, it would only be available during a short window of time.

It's clear to see that Texas Roadhouse does offer the best value and price on its prime rib meal, which is excellent. People love it! On Reddit, Texas Roadhouse's prime rib has been called the best some have ever had, and for others it is their go-to steak. You have to love a good deal on good food, especially in this economy.
