Tabitha Brown Expands Her McCormick Spice Line With 5 Salt-Free Blends
As a vegan food expert, Tabitha Brown knows that plant-based foods can have just as much flavor as recipes that contain meat, cheese, or other animal products. The McCormick Brand agrees and is working with the cookbook author and actress to expand the line of vegan spices they have already partnered on with Brown to include salt-free options.
In 2021, Brown and McCormick collaborated on a spice blend called Sunshine Seasoning by Tabitha Brown that was intended to add fresh flavor to vegan or non-vegan dishes. Containing popular Caribbean spices and herbs, such as allspice, thyme, turmeric, cayenne pepper, mango, and pineapple, the limited-edition Sunshine Seasoning sold out 39 minutes after its release. McCormick then brought the spice blend to store shelves nationwide in June 2022.
After that phenomenal success, McCormick and Brown have created five salt-free and vegan seasoning products that will be sold starting this spring and summer. It's the first time that McCormick has created salt-free recipe mixes.
"Expanding our partnership with Tabitha was an easy decision for us," said Giovanna DiLegge, vice president of marketing at McCormick. "We hope these products inspire clean, healthy, and most importantly, delicious, eating that can be sustained for all."
Spice up vegetables, burgers, and tacos
The new line of products from McCormick and Tabitha Brown will include two seasoning blends and three recipe mixes that will be sold in stores and on Amazon. The two seasoning blends, McCormick Like Sweet Like Smoky All Purpose Seasoning and McCormick Very Good Garlic All Purpose Seasoning, are both for sale now. Brown said she envisions the Like Sweet Like Smoky blend being used to season dishes like bacon, mushrooms, and collards. She says the Very Good Garlic seasoning will easily complement veggies, pasta, and marinara sauces or anything that could benefit from some garlic flavoring.
Later this summer, the three seasoning mixes — McCormick Taco Business Seasoning Mix, McCormick Burger Business Seasoning Mix, and McCormick Sauté Business Seasoning Mix — will hit store shelves. The taco seasoning mix includes paprika, cumin, and chili peppers, while the burger seasoning will enhance meat-based or plant-based hamburgers with herbs and spices and hickory smoke flavor. Finally, the sauté seasoning mix includes garlic, ginger, cinnamon, and sesame oil.
"I can't wait to see how everyone decides to spice up their meals with my new salt-free seasoning blends and recipe mixes, whether you're a vegan or non-vegan, because that's your business," Brown said.
To help promote the seasoning blends and mixes, Brown has co-developed new recipes that will be available on McCormick's landing page, as well as Brown's social media channels.
