Alton Brown Shares His Road Trip Eats

Hint: There are hot dogs and coffee aplenty

Alton Brown has been busy lately, traveling around the country for the tour of his live show, Eat Your Science. Of course, no road trip is complete without excellent food.

So Brown's been sharing his better meals with the hashtag #ABRoadEats (plus the city name at the end of it). Lately, he's been traveling around California, and he's downed everything from doughnuts in San Luis Obispo to a chile-topped cheeseburger in Bakersfield.

The sweet treats from SLO Donuts go fast.

The grilled chile is what makes the burgers at Happy Jack's stand out.

No trip is complete without roadside stops—especially ones fueled by Bloody Marys.

The dogs at Franks Famous Hot Dogs in San Luis Obispo and the tri-tip sandwich at Firestone nearby aren't to be missed, he adds.

The food science enthusiast has discussed opening his own café, so there's also been quite a bit of coffee along the road (for "research"). The Cuban coffee at Commissary in L.A. is excellent, Brown says.

And there's been some booze on the bus.

Brown is making his way up the West Coast now, so if you have recommendations for him, you can Tweet them with the hashtag #ABRoadEats + the city name.
