Warm weather dinner parties deserve the perfect place setting
Spring Entertaining Place Setting

It's still chilly outside, but the first, elusive sighting of rhubarb in our market has us thinking ahead to warm weather dinner parties.

To get ready, we pulled together the perfect place setting--and a few extra pieces for added inspiration--for a spring get-together. It's colorful, a little offbeat and exactly what we'd dream of setting out for our guests to celebrate the sunnier days ahead.

? Layer linens in different weights and prints for texture. Hand-blocked painted metallic table runner from West Elm ($39), IceMilk Aprons' heirloomed linen table runner ($46), printed cotton Jama tablecloth from John Robshaw Textiles ($95 to $135), CB2's Uno natural linen napkin ($7).

? Florals move in a new direction with a bold, brassy print. Elka stoneware dinner plate and side plate in red ($20 and $14) and Riverbank dessert plate in turquoise ($12), all from Anthropologie.

? Delicate glassware doesn't have to be demure. Olivia white wine glass from B by Brandie ($60 for four), hand-blown gradient yellow crystal glasses by Scholten & Baijing ($60 to $72 for four).

? Even utensils can add edge. Stainless steel geometric flatware by Kate Spade Saturday ($60 for a 12-piece set).

? Keep serving pieces simple and organic. Brass onion trivet by Alder & Co. ($125), Toulouse stoneware platter with flower detail ($80) and hand-antiqued Marin large oval platter ($40), both from Crate & Barrel.

? Patterns are your friends. Nell & Mary Brush Stripe cotton chambray napkins in indigo ($48 for four), Anthropologie Glenna side plate ($16).

? Vibrant glasses make cocktail hour more fun. Translucent Marta double Old-Fashioned glasses from CB2 ($3 each), soda glass Shimmer Glasses from MoMa ($60 for four).
