For the past year, there’s been a culinary version of Where’s Waldo going on—as in Where’s Wylie Dufresne, the chef and owner of the late, great wd~50. After shuttering in 2014 and closing another spot, Alder, last summer, there was talk of the chef opening a restaurant in the Financial District, but that never came to be. There was also buzz about the chef helping his father, Dewey, finally open an off-the-wall sandwich shop, but, mostly, things have been quiet on the Dufresne front—until now.

The chef announced on Twitter that his next project will be called Du’s Donuts and Coffee and will be located in the William Vale Hotel in Williamsburg, where fellow Manhattan restaurateur Andrew Carmellini is working on two projects: a cocktail spot called Westlight, which just opened, and an Italian restaurant called Leuca.

No word yet on what kind of doughnuts Dufresne will serve, but given his history, we can’t imagine they will be of the typical glazed variety.
