Mario Batali's Menu At The White House

Mario Batali, donning orange Crocs, was in the kitchen

Last night's state dinner had numerous special guests: Jerry Seinfeld; Gwen Stefani, who performed; Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi; of course, President Obama and the first lady; and a chef donning orange Crocs.

Mario Batali and his ponytail headed to D.C. this week to prepare what will likely be the last state dinner of this administration.

The menu, which Michelle Obama selected during a tasting at Babbo recently, included sweet potato ravioli with brown butter and sage from the White House's garden.

There was also a beef braciole, broccoli rabe, and an apple crostata and plum tart for dessert.

Dinner was set up in a grand tent on the South Lawn:

And guests were able to tour the White House's vegetable garden:

During his remarks, the president commented: "We saved the best for last."
