Mario Batali To Cook At The White House

The chef is headed to D.C. to cook at an Italian state dinner

Mario Batali—hopefully sporting his orange Crocs—will be heading to the White House next Tuesday when President Obama and the first lady host Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, Eater reports.

The first lady announced the news that Batali would be the guest chef at what's expected to be the last state dinner of this administration on Snapchat:

There's no word on what Batali will be cooking, but the chef seems excited over on Twitter:

Gwen Stefani will make an appearance at the dinner as well and perform.

Michelle Obama recently had a meal at Batali's acclaimed Babbo, so perhaps that's what inspired all of this. Here's hoping no one gets red sauce on their fancy clothes.
