Houstonians can get in on the food hall craze, while a burger empire expands. Here are the best new spots to check out this spring.
Conservatory: The food hall craze is finally reaching Houston. Anh Mai and Lian Pham, who own Prohibition Supperclub & Bar are in charge of the project, which will host a beer garden along with vendors like El Burro & the Bull, a barbecue spot from pitmaster John Avila, a noodle concept called Samurai Noodle, a creperie and a Greek café. While the initial opening was slated for March 1, the team say they are now aiming to open in the next few weeks.
Yauatcha: Hakkasan Group is bringing its Michelin-starred dim sum and modern teahouse from London to Houston (and Honolulu). Expect lots of tea options, small plates of dumplings, some larger plates of wok dishes and a substantial French-inspired pastry selection.
Killen's Burgers: Much-loved meat expert Killen's is extending its empire into the world of burgers sometime around Memorial Day. Guests will pick their burger's blend (think brisket, short rib, beef-and-pork blend, pork belly and bacon) from owner Ronnie Killen's list or ask for a custom patty ground to order.
