Teresa Forester Adams

• When Teresa was a firefighter, she cooked breakfast burritos on a camp stove each year before a parade in Jacksonville, NC. There, she served hot meals on cool mornings to up to forty firefighters and the local fire mascot, Sparky.
• She always makes double the food for holiday meals and dinner parties and has a stack of containers for her guests to take home leftovers like hot oven grinders, macaroni and cheese, or cast-iron cornbread.
• Teresa's favorite hobby is camping, specifically cooking over fire, and believes the food tastes even better than in a commercial or home kitchen when it's prepared under the stars.

Experience

Originally from Western Massachusetts, Teresa has a passion for New England cuisine. After moving to North Carolina, she has found a deep interest in the differences between the two regions and how micro and macro folklore influences cultural vittles. She has written multiple pieces for the local newspaper and is especially proud of sharing stories of food-giving during the pandemic. Also included in her publications are features of intriguing community members, press releases, poetry, and her self-published first cookbook. When she's not in the kitchen, she teaches English at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, NC, specializing in developmental learning and English as a second language.

Education

Teresa has a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in writing from Westfield State University, and a master's degree in Multicultural Transnational Literatures from East Carolina University.
